THE SUN ALSO RISES will document the history of the bands that came together to form East Cameron Folkcore. It is the story of a group of people that used music and friendship to turn the horror of losing a loved one into songs that inspire.
East Cameron Folkcore is a ten piece ensemble (sometimes more) hailing from Austin, Texas. It consists of musical refugees of other bands from an area of North Austin known as East Cameron. Members of Bankrupt and the Borrowers, The Van Buren Boys, Hobomouth, Clyde & Clem's Whiskey Business and The Bread came together under the banner East Cameron Folkcore originally as a side project. After the sudden and shocking death of Bankrupt and the Borrowers band member Jon Pettis, East Cameron Folkcore developed into something much more than a hobby band.
What started as a vehicle to keep a group of friends and musicians entertained, quickly turned into a cathartic necessity that turned the gut wrenching tragedy of losing a beloved friend into something that would make each day more bearable. Out of the ashes came East Cameron Folkcore as it is known today. The story of East Cameron Folkcore will serve as a light in the darkness for those that lose someone well before their time.
East Cameron Folkcore will be showcased as an official artist of the 2012 SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas. They will release their second full length album later this year.
