Hi Kickstarter!

My name is Joshua and I need your help to create 10 desert landscape shots in the American Southwest.

I DO think that it is very important for me to note that you're not paying for my trip. I have already purchased my ticket and hotel room. I am looking for additional funding that would allow me to travel outside of town with the proper gear. More details on funding below.

The photograph above is at an elevation of about 10,000 ft above sea level in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador. I traveled there in December of 2011 and did my best to photograph as much as I could with limited resources. It is identical in style to what I want to create in the American Southwest, and with your help, we can make it happen! I am including a few more shots from this series below.

When

I will be traveling to Las Vegas on August 14-19, 2012 and the plan is to get a car and spend at least 2 days shooting landscapes. Redrocks, Death Valley and Valley of Fire are all likely shooting locations. Yes, I am aware that it is going to be very hot! I love that dry desert air and what better challenge than getting these shots during the hottest part of the year in one of the harshest environments on earth!

Use of Funds

Successful funding means that I will have the resources to insure and safely transport the proper photography equipment with minimal rentals. Portions will go towards off-setting the costs of airline baggage fees, a rental car, gas and hiking gear rentals. I think that it is also important to note that I am not taking any shortcuts with the rewards. The prints themselves will have a significant cost, and packing them up to ensure that they arrive safely factors into that cost as well.

Updates

To me, this is the coolest part. I will be tweeting and updating frequntly throughout my excursions and I would love to interact with those of you that are interested in following me along in this adventure! You can expect to see some setup (behind the scenes) shots and learn a little bit about my process, along with lots of iphone snapshots, perhaps even videos.

Also, once I get back, I'll be glad to keep everyone up on the printmaking progress, and offer some sneak peeks at the images as I am editing.

Rewards

Once I return from my trip and have had some time to work on the final images, I will put them online so that you have an opportunity to look through and choose your rewards as backgrounds or prints.

All prints will be on Kodak Endura Professional paper and mounted on 4-ply bevel cut matte board. They will be signed, numbered and packaged with care to ensure that they get to you safely! Because they will be already matted, you can display them as is, or put them into a frame if you chose.

I do typically sell my photography online, but the images from this series will NOT be available for sale outside of this project. They are sigend, numbered limited editions.

**Very Important**

I am releasing a total of 50 copies of each print in its two respective sizes (5x7 and 8x10). This is to maintain the value of your reward. The right to choose will be "reserved" in the order that pledges are received.

In the event that quantities of a particular image are running low, or have reached their limit, I will provide updates through Kickstarter.
