Tooling needed for production of our Virtual Power Plant

The Virtual Power Plant/Solar AC unit provides "Green" power, and cooling for small residential and commercial spaces.

Did you know that almost all domestic solar panel installations are only tied to the utility grid?  What that means is two things, 1) Even with solar panels on the roof, your home or business is always pulling power from the utility grid leaving you susceptible to varying utility rates,  and 2) If the grid goes down, your panels are useless!  If the power grid is down and you have solar panels on your roof tied to the grid, not only will you not have power for your home, but the panels will not be able to deliver and sell energy back onto the grid.  With the GPRM100 Virtual Power Plant, we have solved these problems!

Green Power Resource Management is changing the way you access renewable energy sources for emergency power when the grid is down,  and daily cost savings related to energy use.

The reason for starting this project is to change the way people look at utilizing renewable energy.  GPRM offers a packaged, solar powered Virtual Power Plant/Solar AC unit, designed to 1) save money, and 2) make more efficient use of renewable energy sources.  The GPRM100 provides a much more cost effective, and useful alternative to the typical grid-tied solar panel installation.  The great thing is, the GPRM100 with a grid-tie option allows for the exact same functionality that a grid-tied solar panel installation does, at significantly lower cost of ownership.  The GPRM100 with the grid-tie option allows you to sell excess energy back to the utility grid.  Without the grid-tie option, the unit can still run using alternating current, or AC power from the utility grid, it just can't deliver and sell energy back to the utility company.

Typical Grid-Tied Solar Panel Installation

The GPRM100 runs off direct current, or DC power like what is generated from solar panels, a wind generator, or a battery.  This allows the unit to run ahead of having to pull energy from the grid.  This way, you are truly running your AC off renewable energy, and you don't have to worry about the ever-increasing rates your utility company charges.  And to top it off, most energy generated by the utility companies comes from fossil fuels like coal or oil, not green energy.  The unit will only pull energy from the grid as a last resort, like if the sun is down, and the on-board batteries are depleted.  The best part is, when the power goes out, like what happened during Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast, the GPRM100 will provide power!

What if you already have a Solar PV system?

The GPRM100 can be used in addition to your existing Solar PV system.  The unit only needs 980 watts to operate, or about 4-6 solar panels depending on the output capacity of the panels.  The GPRM100 will save you additional money on cooling costs since the unit will run the majority of the time without having to pull energy from the utility grid.  Seasonal cooling costs can be 70% - 90% + of your seasonal utility bill.  The GPRM100 can potentially eliminate that cost.  Using our system in conjunction with an existing grid-tied solar PV system will give you the ability to save more money, and still have access to power when the grid is down.

The GPRM100 project has completed design & verification milestones, and has been manufactured in small quantities. The Kickstarter project is a way for us to scale production volumes in order to reduce production costs, and deliver a more cost competitive solution to the marketplace.
