dell'Arte offers two gripping French operas in August 2012 - our ninth season of supporting emerging opera singers in debut roles!
Two sizzling French operas - Bizet's "Carmen" and Poulenc's "Dialogues des Carmelites" will be presented this August in Manhattan's East Village with your help! Your donations will help prepare 60 young singers for their debut roles, give them private coaching and masterclasses with great coaches and conductors (like Pierre Vallet of the Metropolitan Opera) and provide the best instrumentalists to make the music soar. Help a young singer to cultivate their craft, then come see them put it all on stage!

Francis Poulenc was explicit in his wish that his opera be sung in the primary language of the country where it was performed. However, since the advent of supertitles, which did not exist at the time he composed "Dialogues," the Poulenc Estate has relaxed this rule somewhat. Our production is capitalizing on the rare opportunity to teach singers their roles in the language of composition, which we believe always sets the music off to best advantage. We are especially grateful to the Poulenc Estate for their permission to do so.
