Update #25: back on the radar
Hello my lovely backers!
I've been off the radar for a while (6 months) but I'm still here and Blue Nandina Studio and the darkroom are all doing better than ever. In fact, I'm gearing up for my very first Open Studio Tour as a member of the Orange County Artists Guild. It's the 1st and 2nd weekends in November and my preparations are picking up pace. SO I have been hard at work in the backyard and the darkroom making it ready for the public to visit. I have some pics to show you what has changed in the past month.
1. for a refresher... the darkroom as it has been for the past year- cinder block steps and the underside open to critters.
2. a shot of the improvements- a deck with railing (that's for you Anna), lattice work to keep critters out, moved the shrub away to make access easier, stone pathway to the darkroom.

Thanks a ton to the 2 backers that have now also put in a major labor contribution: Jonathan Davis and Michael Hester. And we can't forget my dad, Fred, for always being early and having every tool a girl needs. You guys are the best!
Also I'm working on getting some more freebie images up. I triple pinky swear to have some of each new group of work up before the end of the year and hopefully before next month.

Update #23: print washer
After battling the flu for a week I finally got the print washer setup and working. I had to changed the faucet on the sink to accommodate the screw on hose that supplies the washer but otherwise it was smooth sailing. Here is a pick of it washing away with a hand full of the nearly 100 prints i made in january. The top hose runs from the sink and along the length of the washer so clean water comes in from both sides. The bottom hoses are a drain and emergency overflow.
Next step is to get all images photographed, cleaned up and online.
Always more work to be done :)

I'm a photographer who stumbled across this site in april on '10 and was lucky enough to fund my own darkroom project using Kickstarter in the late summer of '10. Now I enjoy finding and backing gems among all the brilliant ideas other users post.
