A little about the Acoustigrain:

The AcoustiGrain is a strictly acoustic speaker base for the iPhone.  The base holds the iPhone upright, while channeling the sound from the iPhone speaker through a standard horn-shaped chamber facing the listener.  When the sound is played through the AcoustiGrain, it is substantially louder than using just the iPhone speaker alone.  And because of the natural resonating characteristics of the horn chamber, there is no power requirement.  You can use the AcoustiGrain anywhere you like and enjoy improved sound in a simple yet aesthetically pleasing base.  

Why'd you come?

Through my own experiences with the iPhone, I have found a shortcoming with the performance of the on-board speaker.  As do many people, I like to listen to music while I get ready in the morning and while showering.  No matter what I tried, my iPhone (and only portable music device), was just not playing music loud enough for me to enjoy.  After many people I encountered agreed that the speaker was lacking in volume, I decided that this irritating problem could have a pleasant solution.  Not wanting to clutter my bathroom with more wires, the AcoustiGrain was born.  

I have created a Kickstarter project to bring my invention, the AcoustiGrain, to the largest possible audience, in order to both raise funds for production and also to get feedback and opinions for improvement. While I have a deep love of music, acoustics, and product design, I want to make a product that suits your needs, not my own.  With your support, I will be able to make a product that suits your taste and needs in order to solve the irritating problem of not enough volume from our iPhones.  

Why'd you stay?

With the funds pledged through Kickstarter, You will be receiving a production version of the AcoustiGrain.  Currently the design is in prototype phase.  Your funds will go initially towards research and development, including the purchase of an audio response analyzer and a small acoustic chamber for testing.  This will allow for the best design possible at a minimal cost.  Once the optimal horn size and shape is determined, production will begin and You will receive the very first production batch of the AcoustiGrain.  

AcoustiGrain Original and Vibrant Series 

The AcoustiGrain Original will be made of 100% natural American Black Walnut with a pure Tung Oil finish.  The Original is the flagship model due to its elegant look that blends in with any decor, and the warm sounds that the wood provides.  These will be cut using precision CNC equipment, and will be assembled and finished by hand.  ***NOTE: While I plan to use walnut, I am very open to material suggestions from all Kickstarters.  If successful, a variety of wood options could be offered.  

For those who want to add some color to their sound, the AcoustiGrain Vibrant Series will be made of molded, environmentally-friendly, strong and durable, urethane plastic.  Because they are plastic, the Vibrant Series will come in one of five colors: black, white, red, blue and purple.  The plastic will give a sharper, edgier sound, and the durability of the plastic makes it ideal for enhancing your sound on the go.  ***NOTE: Like the Original, the colors listed for the Vibrant Series are planned but not set in stone.  This is your opportunity to be get involved in the project.
