Coat hook designed after the traditional Japanese origami crane.
The Crane Hook is a basically a hook that mimics the shape and style of an Origami Crane. The Crane is a symbol for happiness, good luck, and peace. What better to hang your coat on?
The Crane Hook will be made from Aluminum that will be produced with computer controlled laser cutting and bending machinery. It will be a strong lightweight hook that is functional and beautiful.
The head and neck of the Crane and also the wings can be used to hang anything from coats, handbags, hats, robes, or anything that needs to be kept off the floor.
They will be available in either a Red, Blue, Black, and Silver anodized finish. The Silver finish is a clear anodize. The anodized finish is a hard durable surface finish that should withstand everyday use and wear.
The Crane Hooks, mounting hardware, installation instructions, packaging, and shipping is included in the reward costs. Please add an additional $10 for international shipping.
All parts will be made in the United States for the Kickstarter orders and it is planned to be built in the United States for all future orders. An American made product will assure good quality, quick delivery times, low inventory, close contact, good communication, and support the country.
What’s next?
The feedback I received has been extremely helpful and assisted in the redesign of the Crane Hook. It will be an improved product.
The Production version of the the Crane Hook will be much smaller. About a third of the size of the prototype Cranes shown in the pictures. The smaller size will be artistically pleasing as well as improving the functionality of the hook. It will also be a safety improvement by reducing the distance it protrudes from the wall.
The corners will be rounded to reduce the possibility from snagging clothing or poking people. Manufacturing call outs and notes will also break and deburr all sharp edges for a safety concern.
The wings will be angled up 30degrees. This was a more complex manufacturing procedure, but will add a design and a functional aspect to the hook. The shape will mimic the origami crane's wings. It will also add two more points as a coat hook.
There will also be a option of two types of Racks. Two or Three cranes will be mounted to a bamboo board (2.25" Tall X 1" Thick X 24" Wide for the Three Crane Rack and 12" for the Two Crane Rack) . It will come assembled with two pre-drilled mounting holes.

The funding from you from the Kickstarter project will allow me to create the avenues to sell the Crane Hooks. The funds will go to the total Kickstarter order, tooling charges, webpage set up and maintenance, miscellaneous small business expenses, and to create a small inventory.
The rewards for the Origami Crane Hook Kickstarter project will be the Prototypes in the plain brushed aluminum finish, the production versions colored Anodized finishes, and the Rack assembly.

The prototype rewards are complete, in hand, and will ship and soon as the Kickstarter project is complete and funded. The Production version Crane Hook will take 4-6 weeks to produce the parts. As soon as the parts are done, I will package the Crane Hooks and ship them to all the backers to complete my side of the Kickstarter deal.

When this project is complete and successfully funded, the real work begins. I will give the go a head to the sheet metal manufacturing facility to begin producing the parts. During the time the parts are being produced, I will work hard getting all the shipping requirements the the numerous Backers complete so as soon as the parts arrive the total products can be shipped.
The real challenge is not in delivering the product to the Backers or the customers, it's doing it on my own. Which will be my own reward.

Yes, this is the second time I did the Crane Hook project. This first project wasn't successful, but I learned a lot about the Kickstarter process. I also received some great feedback which allowed me to make many continuous improvements to the design. All the improvements will be incorporated in the Production Version of the Crane Hook.

Because of Kickstarter's new rule, I could not created a reward with multiple items only individual. If you would like more than one Crane Hook, Crane Rack, or both just make your reward the corresponding total of what the cost would be for multiple items. Very useful and very safe. I have been using the Crane Hooks at my home for coats by the front door and in the bathroom for my daughter's towel. The Crane Hook is very versatile and strong. I have never had a problem with clothing being cut or damaged.
The edges of the Crane Hook will be deburred and there will not be any sharp edges. The design of the origami crane has pointy features, but it is not an issue. The Crane Hook is as safe as any other coat hook that mounts to a wall.

I chose bamboo for the rack material because the bamboo fits the Japanese theme of the Origami Crane Hook and it an eco-friendly material. A dimensional piece of bamboo is harder to come by and can't be picked up at the local lumbar yard. The cost comparison to a piece of Pine is much greater, but I feel it will be worth it.
