Update #7: A Review of The Black Forest in the Art Taco Blog
Just wanted to share a write up about my POD which includes some good photos in case you weren't able to attend on First Night or want to see someone's objective opinion about it all :)

Update #6: Preparing the Thank You's! -- Need Addresses...
Update #5: Success! We lost count at 1000...
Well over 1000 people experienced the First Night in the Black Forest installation on Dec. 31, 2011! My only method of counting attendees was by how many postcards were left--I printed 1000 cards to give as souvenirs to the visitors and they were all gone well before midnight. There were many foreign languages spoken in the Black Forest, I heard German, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, French and some I didn't recognize at all. It was great to see the universal reaction of "Let's take our picture in there!" I was very happy to provide a fun opportunity to all of these people, done with the help of my backers and friends. Thanks everyone for a memorable experience!
Unfortunately for some reason I had a camera malfunction so none of the photos or videos that I captured on First Night survived. I have never had such a technical glitch before so I hope that people who attended the event may forward images to me at coralette@craftyhag.com. At least I have a few pictures from the night before to document the final result but nothing really conveys the feeling of being inside the Black Forest yourself. It was quite a treat... if not just a touch spooky. :)
Update #4: FUN in the Forest!
Update #3: Opportunity to visit the Black Forest before First Night!
I will have the Black Forest installation open for visitors on Friday Dec. 30 at 8 PM until 9 PM or so in South Straub Park. This way, that those with other New Year's Eve plans or those who have a low tolerance for crowds can come and see the finished project. Hope to see you either this Friday or Saturday nights! Happy New Year and thanks again for supporting this creative project, it was quite a mind stretch for me -- going from my usual 6 x 9 inch size to an 8 x 16 foot format! It has been fun and I can't wait to see all the parts come together--the best part of course will be watching people enter and enjoy the world I'm creating. See you then!

My name is Coralette Damme. I'm an artist in St. Petersburg, Florida known to most as The Crafty Hag. My influences range from Edward Gorey to German Expressionism... I think art should be fun and emotive and maybe a little distracting.
I've been a part of the local art scene for about 5 years now, working in media from stained glass to screen printing, painting, to block prints, collage and drawing... You name it I'll try it. This project is my first attempt at a public art installation but I know I can make a special environment that will bring a smile to the people who pass through it.
As a visual artist I find it hard to describe myself verbally so here is a quote from a local blogger, Luis, who has reviewed my work on his blog (http://art-taco.blogspot.com) I think he sums me up pretty well.
"Coralette Damme, aka The Crafty Hag, is a well-known artist in St. Petersburg circles who has worked in several media over time. She's no stranger to the dark side, and imbues it with whimsy, humor and good-natured self-mockery. Coralette works in a variety of media, from oil paints to linocuts. She is no stranger to exploring life's energies, everything from animal totemic forms full of power and mystery to her own artistic process.
Great write up!
