About this project
What's in a Name?
What’s in a Name? is a timeless question posed by Shakespeare in Romeo & Juliet. Sopranos Evan Leontis and Jacqueline Novikov need your support to produce a free vocal concert and CD entitled What’s in a Name?, that focuses on music from opera, art song, and musical theater. Each song in the concert tells a story about a different character whose name appears in the title of the song and/or within the text of the song.
If we raise the money, the concert will take place on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at the Brookline Public Library in Boston, MA. We will record the concert music in a recording studio at Boston University in March or April. The funds we raise will go toward paying our collaborative pianist, renting the performance venue and recording studio, CD production costs, printing programs, and advertising. Currently, we have reserved our performance venue, picked the concert program and have much of the music learned.
Classical music lovers, musical theater buffs and the literary set alike will be entertained by this creative concert experience.
