About this project
We're joining the exploding truck food movement, and bringing our organic, locavore sensibilities along for the ride!
Providence Juice Company will sell fresh juice and smoothies from a stunning, converted Grumman Kurbmaster food truck at farmers markets, festivals, sporting events and parks. In addition to juice sales, our truck will be a mobile outreach and education center, visiting schools and other organizations for workshops on healthy eating, sustainability, and urban farming. We will provide free juice for children in various urban park on special outreach days.
Providence Juice Co. has the mission to promote the health of bodies, communities and the planet. We hope that our delicious fresh juices and smoothies will help reconnect people to the physical and emotional joy of eating fresh, un-processed, responsible and creative foods. By getting our produce primarily from local farmers (we love FarmFresh RI!) and secondarily from exclusively organic suppliers, we will support local agriculture and responsible farm practices. Our recipes will reflect what's in season in our area... and you'll be amazed what we can juice!
Our juice truck will demonstrate by example the possibilities of a sustainable operation. We'll use biodegradable packaging, and return all of our produce waste to local farms for composting. Within our first year of business we intend to undertake a solar conversion, installing rooftop solar panels to power our on-board appliances.
Oh man, we're excited.
We've exclusively funded this project on our own to this point. So far we've purchased our Juice Truck, obtained permits and health department approval, begun marketing, and formed partnerships with local farms to supply our produce. So what do we need right now? Oh yeah... the juicer. We're currently seeking $6,500 in basic funds to buy our industrial juicer and blender and to complete the truck's custom paint job (with lower-impact waterborne paints, of course) so we can be on the road by mid June.
If we can raise over $8,000, we will begin that solar conversion as well! We need to finance the purchase of the solar panels and the conversion of appliances. We look forward to working with Providence's own Alteris Renewables for our conversion.
Help us get on the road, and we'll be blowing your mind with fantastic juice before you know it.
Thank you!

Providence Juice Co is the brainchild (and registered LLC) of two people; Josie Morway and Jay Nutini.
Jay has a background in mechanical engineering and ten years experience working in the automotive industry, including installation of hybrid battery charging systems. Jay will manage the physical operations of the truck, and the conversion of traditional appliances to receive solar power.
As a vegan and competitive athlete concerned with optimizing health and performance while reducing his impact on the environment, Jay has long been interested in sports nutrition, sustainable diets, and gourmet vegan cooking. Jay is a master of non-traditional juicing, and recently discovered the amazing chemistry between peaches, celery and basil.
Josie has over a decade of experience in graphic design, arts and community organizing, grant writing and public relations, with a focus on non-profits, independent business and community groups. Josie has collaborated with firms like Schwadesign and has run her own design business for seven years, serving clients including the United Way, Providence After School Alliance, RIPTA, Greater Elmwood Neighborhood Services (now CWRI), Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, Rhode Island Quality Institute, and the City of Providence Department of Art, Culture + Tourism.
A vegetarian raised in a household of organic gardeners, Josie has a lifelong interest in sustainable agriculture, community gardening, and working to promote the access by all people to healthy, fresh food. Josie also has experience working as a mentor to urban youth, and looks forward to coordinating Providence Juice Company’s outreach efforts. Josie is partial to adding pineapple to her beet juice.
