About this project
Collaboration & Cross-Pollination is an inceptive project created to encourage the sharing of artwork, information and inspiration between artists from different regions. Spearheaded by the Regional Art Ambassador for Burning Flipside 2011, these efforts are being developed to prompt visits & workshops by artists as well as potentially create provisions for Austin artists to visit other regions.
Our goal is to host two visiting groups of artists with participation in Burning Flipside, an annual art event held east of Austin at the end of May. The two groups that have been invited (and are excited!) to participate are members of the Flaming Lotus Girls from San Francisco, CA as well as Charlie Smith with the Art of Such n' Such from Atlanta, GA. These visiting artists will be bringing their work & will host workshops at the event to share their skills & knowledge.
Based on generous contributions from art lovers and supporters like yourself, if the $4000 goal is raised, equal amounts will be given to the two groups in an effort to cover transportation costs as well as fuel expenses for artwork & on-site workshop materials. Any extra funding raised by the Collaboration & Cross-Pollination project will provide a healthy seed to grow/foster future visits for Austin artists to participate with other regional communities and events.
Tickets to Burning Flipside for the participating artists & their respective teams have been generously reserved by the Austin Artistic Reconstruction LLC and pre/post-event accommodations can be provided by members of the Flipside community. Austin is excited about hosting & learning with artists from afar!
