Hi, Dave and John, I have everything from the $60 level except the TMNT print (I think I was supposed to get this). I wasn't going to bother you for it but my son thought the jpeg from one of the old updates was cool (in that very long 'cooooooo-ol' that excited 8 year olds can do). Let me know the postage costs and I'll pop them to you.

Hi John, I have got everything else but no TMNT print as yet. I know international postage takes longer so can you let me know if it was posted as I was not on the list. Cheers, Steven.

Hi John, this isn't a moan as you've done an excelent job as far as I'm concerned but I'm also still missing the TMNT print and wasn't on the list that recent update.

      Thanks

      Hi John,
I received a package from you today, but I am not sure it was the correct one.

      I expected:
      a) Swords of Cerebus Volume 6
      b) Guys Party Pack
      c) 5 back issues of Cerebus from issue 115-299 (Subject to Availability - there are no Issue 200’s) all Signed by Dave Sim.
For the 5 issues I requested
      229
      297
      211
      145
      and 231.

      I received:
      a) Swords of Cerebus Volume 6
      b) Issue 184

What can we do to rectify this?

How long will the download links be up? I haven't started downloading yet. Also, any chance of comixology subscriptions? Then i can download them at my own rate.

      OK, quick question:
Looking back at the files I downloaded, it looks like I have already downloaded the audio/video for #13. But when I'm scanning through the links from the January 11 email (update #136), it says that the audio/video for everything from 13 on will be released on Jan 24th. Did I miss an email? Was the audio/video for #13 pulled for some reason?
Everything's been fantastic! Keep up the good work.

John, The way it was worded 'A free copy of the entire “High Society” Audio/Visual Book in Digital Format' [the word copy in particular] seemed to indicate a hard copy of some kind. Maybe it's me, but perhaps it could have been more clearly worded. I wasn't the only one confused about this:

      http://www.comicsalliance.com/2012/11/01/kickstarted-cerebus-high-society-special-audio-visual-digita/

      http://www.comicsreporter.com/index.php/a_curious_coda_opting_out_of_digital_high_society/

Just sayin'. I guess it's good to finally have an answer one way or another, even if it's the answer I didn't really want.

Will look forward to receiving my rewards and thanks for the update.

@eric hoffman, No, there are no HARD COPIES of the entire project. That wasn't something that was promised either. It's the digital download and whatever you had in your reward tier. Doing the best that I can guys. I don't get to spend all day at home working on this stuff. I have a full time military job. Doing it as quickly as I can. Thanks again for the patience.

    16. Fb_profile_picture.small

Creator Eric Hoffman on January 11

Will backers receive hard copy of entire project as promised? The way you've sized these files makes iit extremely prohibitive to download to my desktop; they eat up a lot of memory. I've asked numerous times, both privately and publically and have never received a straight yes or no answer. Also, I still haven't received my rewards for backing this project, other than the Sim-Eastman print, despite several assurances that they were on the way.

I've gotten about 6 of them back so far. I just checked the last bunch that has been returned and your IS among them. I'll contact you to verify your address. Thank you.

Just wanted to say how, three issues in, this project is really exceeding my expectations. The bonus material and the cleaned-up artwork lifts this way beyond the TPBs. I do hope that you will consider at some point producing a deluxe casebound book of the complete edition, preferably with DVDs/Blu-Rays of the AV element. I know that's a significant investment with regard to design and manufacture, but I'd (almost) certainly subscribe to such a project.

Thanks for providing us with a link to the 48 new eBay auctions for the "Sandeep Atwal Fire Relief Fund." For those who missed that update or didn't receive it, here is the link --

      http://tinyurl.com/sandeepfund

Unfortunately, it looks like ALL of those donated items are only available to eBay members who happen to have a USA mailing address. I came to this conclusion based on the information I found in each of those new listings ("no International buyers this time. Sorry"). This restricted shipping policy even extends to the "Cerebus"-related items. Ironic, isn't it, that Dave Sim himself couldn't bid on these eBay items even if he wanted to (as he, like me, lives in Ontario, Canada).

Therefore, I am hoping this was merely an oversight, or perhaps some sort of "default" setting. If that is indeed the case, please adjust your current auctions accordingly. If not, please provide us with an explanation. Thanks! Good luck with your auctions.

Steve Crooks: Hi Steve. Dave Sim here. Yes, it's definitely costing a lot more to do this than we initially thought so we've definitely made the decision to pull out all the stops on HIGH SOCIETY DIGITAL and make sure that EVERYTHING is covered. Anything we've overlooked will get incorporated into the collected version after the serialization is done in December -- the collected version you'll be getting. Things like articles in fanzines 1981 to 1983, my Tour diary from 1982 in typeset form, photos, etc. We want to be able to say at the end of the day, here, this is ALL of it. This is everything having to do with HIGH SOCIETY. Then we have to look at how much it cost to do that, how long it took to do that and whether the format is commercially viable when it actually goes on the market. On top of that we have to look at how much we needed to pay ourselves and how much John has to pay the CPA for doing the taxes on Cerebus Digital, how much the taxes are. Then we have to figure out from THAT how far down the field we can get the ball with the next book, CEREBUS before we run out of money.

The problem with the bare bones $6K version originally envisioned is, as Sandeep pointed out, that it leaves HIGH SOCIETY mostly undone which means we have to come back and revisit it at the same time we're trying to do future ones. No, it makes a lot more sense to get ONE book done and start on the SECOND book. And then possibly do another Kickstarter campaign on the same basis. Whatever we take in we can use to finish the CEREBUS volume and get as far on CHURCH & STATE I as we can. You don't climb Mt. Everest all in one go. You break it up into sections and deal with each section thoroughly and completely.

Thanks for your support and your question. Sorry I didn't get to it for FIVE DAYS -- I had to sign and personalize all of the back issues for pledge partners and then re-do all the back issues here at the house with the -- by then - seriously depleted dozen long boxes. Four twelve hour days right there. Now I'm recording the audio and annotating the Cerebus Archive back-up material. 775 pages over HIGH SOCIETY so each 99 cent issue will have 30 pages of Archive material. Then I have to start on the annotations on the Notebooks.

It's been an interesting summer. :)

In a recent update you said you were already about $10,000 into the expenditures. I noticed that the initial goal of this Kickstarter project was only $6,000. Was that just a hugely erroneous estimate, or would things have been much different if that was all you had raised. In the end, you ended up with 10x that pledged! Here's something Dave wrote in the initial pitch:

"If more than $6,000 is raised (this is where I suspect John is pulling my leg: MORE than $6,000???) then the money would be put aside to do e-books/audio books/digital graphic novels/oral history/weekly serializations of ALL OF THE CEREBUS BOOKS, Beginning with CEREBUS (500 pages), CHURCH & STATE vol. 1 (600 pages). CHURCH $ STATE vol. 2 (600 pages), and JAKA'S STORY (500 pages)."

It sounds like it's going to cost a lot more than you thought for this initial book, so I'm worried that you won't be able to put money aside from this Kickstarter to do all those other books. Do you expect each of those will be future, independent Kickstarter projects?

Dave Sim will fly to your hometown anywhere in North America. You pick him up at the airport, provide lodging for him and he’ll hang out with you for a weekend (You pay Friday and Saturday Lodging – He’ll pay for Sunday’s lodging as he’ll stay at the hotel and observe the Sabbath - and go back to the airport on Monday) paint a black and white CEREBUS inspired Mural on a wall in your house (note please: YOUR house. Please don't use the doddering old fool to seriously hack off your landlord or landlady when you skip town) or place of business (Comic shop, perhaps?) At the end of the weekend you provide transportation back to the airport. Of course you’ll also receive a free copy of the entire “High Society” Audio/Visual Book in Digital Format. Hours of fun teaching Sim what a cellphone is and what it looks like on one. Be patient and he'll "autograph" it on your QWERTY one painstaking letter at a time. Speaking of which, he'll also autograph ALL of your CEREBUS stuff and anyone's else's CEREBUS stuff you or they have on the premises.
