STRETCH GOALS update!
Hi Everyone,
We just broke $27,000 in pledges! Thank you SO MUCH for supporting a game on the sexy stylings of long-dead European dudes (and, as a fantasy scientist, one more recent dude-ette) and their scientific shenanigans!
As we are winding down to having just over 1/3 of the campaign left, we seem to be finding our level on the overall results of this effort. Considering some past Kickstarter trends, and allowing for the giant bump most projects get in their last 48ish hours, we appear on pace to exceed the $50,000 mark - but not by much.
When we set up the Stretch Goals for this campaign, we did it optimistically hoping for the best possible results. So we put together a whole plan going up to $200,000, with lots of different levels. Yes yes, we know: $200,000 is all well and good for zombie games, but with our little science game that was probably somewhat delusional. In any event, along the way we planned alternating goals, one of which was modest, the next of which was exciting. That way, we wouldn't blow all of the best ones early and have nothing exciting late.
So...with that in mind, and six-figure delusions of grandeur out of our silly little minds, here are our NEW, UPDATED & IMPROVED Stretch Goals. We are moving forward all of the goodies we think you will really be most excited about. Apologies in advance to anyone who was really keen on getting the $30,000 screen savers, but let's get to the real morsels:
$30,000 - The Fantasy Scientists. You get em, with your game, totally free. Einstein. Curie. Darwin. And two other guys who the orthodox science nuts will protest against, but since Stretch Goals are supposed to be fun, these guys are chosen because they will be fun. Particularly competing against each other! Any geek worth their salt who - like me - recently donated to a museum being built in New Jersey knows who I'm talking about! (official announcement to happen when the $30,000 is raised).
$50,000 - A 36 (or longer) page PDF booklet detailing the history of this period. Full page bios on all of the scientists in the game. Overview of the scientific revolution. Analysis of the five major fields of science covered. Talking about the specific advances and discoveries in the game. Not just written text, this will be a beautifully designed piece with period art and style, attractive and informative.
The next Stretch Goal will be at $75,000. If it appears that we will hit $50,000 with five days or more to go we'll post it. It will be another juicy one.
So, that's your Friday night/Saturday morning update. We're loading the gun with the real goodies: let's see if there is a chance we can get all of them.
Namaste!
Dirk

Hi Bendik,

I was tremendously excited to see this list of extra scientist.
Imagine my disappointment, then, when they were in fact *not* included in my game.
What happened here? Have I missed some update on these? Or are they simply shipped separately?

Me: "No, you can't be Tesla."
You: "What, why not?"
Me: "I AM ALWAYS TESLA. I SAID NO, NOW GIVE IT HERE."

WHoo hoo! I have to say, I'm totally excited about Curie. :)
