In 2010, I documented all the cities between Beijing and Shanghai. I will now document all cities between Shanghai and Hong Kong.
My goal:
Create an archive of high-resolution photos of all of the significant cities on China's eastern coast. While everyone seems to visit Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, few people document the small cities in between. My goal is to create a definitive, royalty-free archive of all the large and mid-sized cities between Beijing and Shanghai
How I will do it:
China has a wonderful railway network. I am in the process of journeying along the east coast on trains in order to take photos of the specified cities. I speak Mandarin, so I can easily get to places that have few non-Chinese visitors.
How the funds will be used:
The funds will help pay for my expenses incurred in creating the photo archive. Photos are shot on a Nikon D200 with either a 35/1.8, 11-16/2.8 or 18-55/3.5-5.6 lens. (I switch lenses, depending upon the situation)
Progress thus far:
I have already documented the northern half of the east coast. Namely, photos of Beijing, Tianjin, Jinan, Tai'an, Nanjing, Wuxi, Suzhou, and Shanghai were taken in 2010. Although not on the east coast, I documented Sichuan (Chengdu, Aba, and Garze) and Wuhan in 2011. My hope is to document the strip of cities between Shanghai and Hong Kong in 2012; Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong.
