Last day for BGG Golden Geek Award Voting + A new variant!

Update #20 · Oct 31, 2012 · 1 comment

Hi all!

As you may know, FlowerFall was nominated in the Children's category for the BGG 2012 Golden Geek Awards.  Today is the last day to vote (this is different from the nominations last month) for your favorites.  Go vote :)

Also, we've invented another variant to spice up your games of FlowerFall.  It's a simple rule -- "At the end of the game, the patch(es) with the most green flowers is worth zero points.  It shakes up the 'megafield' strategy a bit.  Try it out!

A fun variant, and BGG Golden Geek Award Nominations!

Update #19 · Sep 30, 2012 · 2 comments

I hope you're all enjoying FlowerFall :)  Thanks again for backing the project.

Yesterday at a game day, we invented a new somewhat-silly but very fun variant for the game: Called Shot FlowerFall.  Most of the rules are the same.  Instead of simply going around clockwise, the game is played in 12 rounds for the 12 cards.  There is a start player for each round, each player will play one card, and then the start player passes clockwise.

Called Shot FlowerFall

The start player must call a shot before playing their card.  A called shot can be any reasonable restriction.  Each player in that round must follow the shot, and then the next round begins with a new start player and a new called shot, until all cards have been played.  Scoring is normal, except that ties for fields result in neither player receiving points.

Some example restrictions/called shots:

-Throw the card from 2 feet away from the table, instead of dropping it.

-Must jump and be mid-air while dropping the card.

-Eyes must be closed before raising arm to drop a card.

-Flick the card off the back of your other hand, catapult style

As you can see, the possibilities are limitless :)  We will be releasing a fun promo pack with called shots at some point in the future, but it's an easy enough variant to try out now, so give it a shot!

Golden Geek Awards!

Nominations for the 2012 Golden Geek Awards close tonight.  You all should go vote for your favorite board games + card games if you're BGG members.  Here's the link:

If you've enjoyed FlowerFall, we'd love your support for it, in the Childrens/Family, Party, and Innovative categories.  Thanks :)
