I hope you're all enjoying FlowerFall :) Thanks again for backing the project.
Yesterday at a game day, we invented a new somewhat-silly but very fun variant for the game: Called Shot FlowerFall. Most of the rules are the same. Instead of simply going around clockwise, the game is played in 12 rounds for the 12 cards. There is a start player for each round, each player will play one card, and then the start player passes clockwise.
Called Shot FlowerFall
The start player must call a shot before playing their card. A called shot can be any reasonable restriction. Each player in that round must follow the shot, and then the next round begins with a new start player and a new called shot, until all cards have been played. Scoring is normal, except that ties for fields result in neither player receiving points.
Some example restrictions/called shots:
-Throw the card from 2 feet away from the table, instead of dropping it.
-Must jump and be mid-air while dropping the card.
-Eyes must be closed before raising arm to drop a card.
-Flick the card off the back of your other hand, catapult style
As you can see, the possibilities are limitless :) We will be releasing a fun promo pack with called shots at some point in the future, but it's an easy enough variant to try out now, so give it a shot!
