A comedy about a girl who put her entire life on the internet to become quasi-famous, only to find respect to be much more elusive.
About the Project:
In 2011, we set out to make a webseries based on a blog and with next to nothing, we managed to shoot three episodes. Just when the show was starting to take off... we stopped. We got sidetracked. We deprived the world of the other four episodes we wrote.
I know. We're really, really sorry and stuff. Cut to 2012...
We'd like to make it up to you by bringing you the exciting conclusion! With just a little bit of support, we can make that happen! Plus we have some fun rewards!
You can also visit the original blog that started it all: http://tangentsandthetimes.com
Special thanks to Monster Rally for always letting us use his music.
Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Let's not confuse things: eating food is important. But we like to think our webseries is like the chocolate sauce on life's sundae; small doses help make something good into something great. We enjoy making that sauce for you, PLUS it comes from a real, and (depending on your geographical location), locally grown place.
Many of the storylines and events were inspired by our favorite Tangents & the Times blog posts, a collection of over four years worth of retrospection from Marissa A. Ross.
At its core, this series is about a blog placed into a narrative form, and then the subsequent consequences of having your life placed all over the internet...
Most of which mean you'll never be able to run for political office. Thanks Mark Zuckerberg!
We are putting every single dollar will go towards what you will see onscreen, because we need it!
We work with incredibly talented people who have graciously donated their time to this project. Unfortunately, we spent all the favors from our favor jar shooting the last batch of episodes, each running about 10 minutes in length. In order to shoot the last four episodes (40 minutes of material -- that's a small feature!) we need money to rent equipment, locations, and pay key people in production and post-production.
"Apparently, Bennett gets this question a lot. No one ever asks me, probably because they actually know me or are too intimidated by my oozing charisma or something. But if you were to ask me, I would say the answer is 'kinda'. When I started the blog, I realized that there were certain posts that resonated with people-- the ones where I would be drunk and seething over some seemingly shallow life problem. So, I ran with it. The character 'Marissa A. Ross' is just a hyper neurotic, exaggerated version of the regular, old neurotic Marissa Ross that is probably next to you at the grocery store with no makeup on, buying eight bottles of wine and a 20oz Red Bull.
Most people usually note that I am 'way nicer' and 'a lot shorter' than they expected me to be. Which is true, I am very nice and not seven feet tall."
