Photo-main

A genre & gender stirring mix-tape show honoring the milestones marking the journeys of queer brown bodies as we travel through 2012.

Love Through Deviant Ears is a production that showcases queer, brown, and unapologetic performances. In June 2012, Volume 2 of Love Through Deviant Ears "FIGHT SONGS" will premier at the African American Cultural Arts Center in San Francisco, California, spotlighting performances that represent the milestones in queer, brown resistance narratives.

The show was awarded $1,000 to invest in the production. We need $2,500 more to make the show happen.

When asked about the driving force behind the show, the producer Javier Hurtado said “Queer, brown performers have always had to “do it ourselves” and that's what we're doing. Love Through Deviant Ears is a baby-step to building a network of performers and artists who are doing solid, valuable artistic work that's not dipped in the mainstream.”

Where we're at:
The cast of LTDE was chosen by a panel of curators who reviewed proposals from performers who wanted to develop new work to premier during the 2012 National Queer Arts Festival.

The performers are currently developing and refining their work in the remaining months leading up to the show.

Love Through Deviant Ears is a remezcla of drag, puppetry, burlesque, dramatic monologues, short-films, stand up comedy and live music. Performances by:

La Chica Boom
NosJotros Crew-
Perra Pumps, Tia Juana Bone, and Cuca Ro'Chez
Rob Fatal
Gera Mendez
Berenice Dimas
Val Kilmore Castro
Cuautemoc Peranda
and Joaquín Quetzal

Calling on Community Support:

We can't do it with out you. We are seeking funds to support Volume 2 of the three-part series of LTDE. We are currently receiving some funding from the San Francisco Queer Cultural Center. Additional funds raised through this campaign will support the costs of production and performance stipends for the artists. Your support will help provide the materials needed to produce each individual performer's work.
