About this project
Around 1833 Alexander Pushkin published Eugene Onegin, a novel in verse. Before Pushkin there were epic poems, long poems, plays in verse. After Pushkin there were epic poems, long poems, and plays in verse. Verse poetry and the novel never quite met up again successfully after Pushkin. So, here I am attempting to meet poetry and fiction, hopefully a few of you will aid me in my publishing endeavor.
I wrote this story entirely in the spirit of Pushkin's Onegin. But instead of Eugene and his infatuations, we have a story about an eighteen-year-old girl, her infatuations, tribulations, narrow passage into adulthood. The novella will come out to approximately forty pages, the second half of the book will include some of my newest and favorite short poems. Jillian is where my heart is, this is not a Jillian Loman and Other Poems type of thing. This project is about publishing a complete story in melodic free verse. I'd like to raise enough money to pay a professional editor, someone who is well acquainted with both poetry and fiction. Additional money will go to an artist to do the design of the book. The rest of the goal money will go toward printing. I figure $650 will accomplish the mission. Thank you!
