The MFA class of the ADA is flying to Turkey to attend international theatre festival and we need your help to get there!
My loneliness does not pain me, because I know my redeemer lives and he will finally rise above the dust..What will my redeemer be like? I ask myself. Will he be a bull or a man? Will he perhaps be a bull with the face of a man? Or will he be like me?
~The House of Asterion
This summer, we, the Masters cohort of the Accademia dell' Arte, a physical theatre school in Arezzo, will have the amazing opportunity to engage in international artistic exchange.
Inspired by Jorge Luis Borges' short story, we are building an original piece that explores the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur non-traditionally, utilizing three different perspectives: Theseus, Ariadne, and Asterion the Minotaur. Marrying story-telling devices with our own an emphasis on the power and expression of the physical performer, we hope to unearth new nuances and perspectives of love, betrayal, and loss already present in this classical tale.
The cohort will be taking this piece to the SDU International Arda Kanpolat Theatre Festival at the Süleyman Demirel Üniversity in Antayla, Turkey. There, we will have the chance to collaborate with students from around the world through performances and workshops.
We are looking for help in subsidizing our travel expenses. This trip will cost each student about 400 € (about $530), which in total will cost 4000€ ($5300), an expense not factored into our Federal Loans or our personal budgets. Our goal is to offset each participant's total cost by 50€. Please help us take advantage of this incredible opportunity!

Our budget is incredibly small, we are a brand new operation, and we are graduate students living abroad. That said, ANY amount that you are willing to give in the current global economic climate is most appreciated, equal in our eyes, and ABSOLUTELY essential to the success of this project. Any donors in the area, of course, are invited to attend to our preview performance, which will be performed on our campus in Arezzo at the end of April for free of charge. Video of this performance of will be sent out to all donors shortly after. However, because of the problem of being all the way in Italy, we will be sending our supporters not only overwhelming amounts of love and good energy from us expatriate performers and a mention in our program, but will also receive updates on our project via email including but not limited to personal notes from performers, photos, and videos documenting the ongoing rehearsal process and our adventures in Turkey!Estimated delivery:
