Jessie Frye has 10 new songs! Help her and the band make their FIRST full-length CD come to life!
THE NEW YORK TIMES: "Ms. Frye rushed to put a band together after being accepted to showcase at SXSW in 2009 on the strength of a homemade demo. Last year she earned strong reviews and a slew of Metroplex radio play for her EP “Fireworks Child,” produced by John Congleton, the producer for St. Vincent."
DALLAS OBSERVER: "... little will stop her from releasing a wonderfully potent full-length. Or from altogether blossoming into a full-fledged monster in the pop world."
DALLAS MORNING NEWS: "Explosive on “Prepared” and then introspective on “Sleeping Tornadoes,” Frye has all the qualities of a compelling artist. Next time give us 10 tunes, Jessie."
EDIT: We did it! We are so thankful to our fans for pushing us over our goal in less than a week. At this point we have nearly 3 weeks left to raise as much money as we can to put towards this record. Let's get us to $5,000 or maybe even $6,000. Every bit counts and each new person you tell about this project helps get us further along. To all of our backers so far: you rule! The more funding we receive, the bigger chances we will have to bring you the best record possible!
NEW MUSIC: The Jessie Frye Band is ready to bring you our very first full-length album. Making a record is a big deal. It takes work, time, and money. We need the love and support of our fans to make this a reality. I have written ten songs for this new record. The band and I have been rehearsing them and getting ready for a brand new live set. I spent all summer pushing myself as a songwriter and a vocalist. Working hard on music is something I love. And now the next step is this campaign!
HISTORY: I formed my band in early 2009 when I got invited to SXSW 2009. I had one EP released, with barely any press and no shows. But SXSW believed in me. And we have been invited back every year since then. It's 2012 and I feel proud of what my band has accomplished on our own. Opening up for Pat Benatar, Eric Hutchinson, Julianna Barwick and more. Working with producers such as John Congleton (St. Vincent, The Walkmen) and Joe McGrath (Ryan Adams, Morrissey). Local music award nominations. Positive press. We even had a SUCCESSFUL Kickstarter campaign last year that allowed us to release our first music video! We come to you again, dear Kickstarters. We ask for your help because we want you to be a part of our very first full length.
FANS CAN HELP MAKE THIS HAPPEN: Kickstarter is a place where fans make the magic happen. It is the most direct way to get involved and show what is important to you as music lovers. By becoming a backer you literally help us build the record from the ground up. If we do NOT make our goal we will NOT be able to make this record, so you can understand how crucial it is to have your support and get this project fully funded. If this music inspires you, or if independent music inspires you, take a step up and donate. Every penny counts. Look at my Kickstarter profile you will notice that I have also personally been a backer to several projects- because I truly care!
BECOME A BACKER: Take a look at all of the backer rewards. I sat down for a few hours and thought out fun and personal incentives that are interactive with fans. I want you to feel engaged with the project, because we need you every step of the way. Choose the pledge amount that feels right to you. No contribution will go unnoticed. If we do not get the funding we need this record will not be made this year. And that sucks! I have high hopes for these new songs and for my band's musical career. We hope you believe in us!
THE PLAN: Many things go into making a record. Paying for studio time, session players, mixing, mastering, printing copies of the CD, artwork, paying for promotion (very important!) and merchandise. Asking for $4,000 is actually quite modest. We hope to raise more, but if we raise our goal we will have a strong foundation. Kickstarter takes about 10% of the amount we raise, so the more money we raise the better opportunity we have to make you, our fans, proud! We hope to have this record finished by the end of the year. We would love to be able to release it in early 2013.
1,000 copies of the CD = $1,000
Studio time = $400 per day (and we have 10 songs!)
Mixing/Mastering = $2,000-$3,000
Promotion = $2,000-$3,000
