What is fits like a gLOVE?

fits like a gLOVE is the newest choreographic work by The Schiff Dance Collective.  fits like a gLOVE will use contemporary dance and spoken word to explore the topic of body image, asking the question- How do you wear your skin?  This evening length work will be based on a collection of personal stories gathered from members of the Denver/Boulder community during movement/writing workshops held by The Schiff Dance Collective.  fits like a gLOVE will be performed at The Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Theater (Denver) and The Dairy Center for the Arts (Boulder) in March 2012.  Excerpts of this work will also be performed during lecture/demonstrations at Boulder Schools.

By donating to our project you can be an activist for the arts and humanity. Your donation will allow us to secure theater rental and clothe our dancers for the performance.

Since founded in 2006 by Artistic Director, Jenny Schiff, The Schiff Dance Collective has been inspiring audiences throughout Colorado.  Using human themes to create choreographic works, they strive to make dance relatable to a larger audience and create community through the arts.  Having presented six evening length works they have been described as “stunning”, “a fresh look”, and “powerful”.  Through performance and instruction The Schiff Dance Collective aids the community in finding the truth and passion in their lives.

Contemporary Dance, while consisting of precise moves and techniques, tends to be guided by a higher calling- usually a central thesis that the dancers attempt to portray using their bodies, movements, and music, rather than creating a dance performance that simply looks pretty or fits the song. This is no easy task, but one that the members of The Schiff Dance Collective take on with conviction and grace.
