* PLANS FOR THE KICKSTARTER FUNDS
Funds from this Kickstarter project will go towards the completion of "Heliocentric - The Oregon High School Solar Car Team" a documentary short film; specifically, travel for teacher Mark Lindow to Dallas for the "Solar Car Challenge" July 12th through the 19th, and the additional equipment necessary to complete the task.
* SYNOPSIS
This short documentary will follow The Oregon High School Solar Car Team from fabrication of their solar vehicle (fall 2011), to completion of The Solar Challenge in July of 2012.
* WHY MAKING THIS SHORT DOCUMENTARY IS IMPORTANT
The goal of this project is twofold: First, a desired outcome would be to draw attention to the work of teacher Tom Stueve and his students. The level of experience gained by these high school students, in conjunction with support from our community, is worthy of attention and acclaim. Specifically, The Oregon High School Solar Car Team should be held up as a model for secondary math and science education.
Secondly, the goal of this documentary production is to encourage other high school students to use the digital arts as a means for self-expression and a tool in storytelling.
