We're making a documentary that seeks to explore the evolution of tattooing in NYC. After a 36 year ban on tattooing in the 5 burrows, in 1997, tattooing became legal again. Since 1997, the art form has totally transformed. It went from being a completely underground subculture to a thriving mainstream movement.
Our film seeks to explore this dynamic, mysterious industry and tell the stories of some of the people who are leaving their mark. With each day of filming comes more and more compelling stories to tell.
