My friend Oliver Hockenhull has just launched a new Kickstarter Campaign to support final editing and distribution of his excellent documentary, Neurons to Nirvana. I saw the current pre-final edit version at the Psychedelic Science 2013 conference in Oakland last week, and it was excellent. Please support this project if you can, it gets the word out about these incredible compounds in a very educational and entertaining way.

I'm from the Netherlands and my copy arrived today, after a long wait. But man was it worth it! The book is huge, hefty, beautiful, and feels great in your hands. Autographed on 12/12/12! A real treat. Thanks a lot Dennis! You and your deceased brother Terence, and all your ideas and revelations, have been very enriching and encouraging to me. And this is really a culmination. Hi. I haven't received my paper copy of the book yet. I'm not worried about it but the latest update indicated that most of the ones not sent are because people didn't register. I did register and I have received the electronic version of the book so I just wanted to make sure the delay is not a result of not having me recorded properly. At one point they had my first name wrongly listed as Dustin. The name is Stephen Gray, although I used the username Stephen Gray Keary. I'm in Vancouver BC. Could someone please let me know that you have my contact and mailing information correct?

In regard to ordering the hard copy from Canada, all you have to do is go to Amazon.com rather than Amazon.ca and you will be able to order your copy. Given the worth of the Canadian dollar at the moment this actually works in your favour.

      Dearest BSA Project Backer Community,

Seems by all the spirited, plucky, and fun comments coming into our BSA sites and Support messages from this beloved peanut gallery that most of our tribe is weathering December's (subtle) singularity in good shape.

Just piping up her this AM to offer a little point of clarification around Dennis' use of term "log-in" in his recent announcement and invitation for all supporters to come visit our new BSA book site.

The site is in fact a public one, open to all, and requires no "log in" (read: there's no private Member Area for which you need to have remembered some user name or old password from the original, australian, site).

What Dennis meant, and we all here on the BSA Support Team heartily invite, is for you to come on over to the new site (yes same URL: http://brotherhoodofthescreamingabyss.com/) and enjoy some of the great new BSA media, blog posts, events info, etc. and then please also take a min or two to click on the link marked "Project Supporters" and respond to the quick poll/form there.

Hope that helps clear-up any confusion about what the URL is to the new site and that you don't need to worry about logging in.

Having been honored to pass the 21st with the man himself (and his lovely family in picturesque Lake Woebegone), busily filling shipping envelopes with shiny new BSA print editions for you all, I can happily confirm that the next wave of books are soon on their way!

Happiest of Holidays and Brightest of New Years to you all!

Also, apologies to all who are having trouble downloading the digital copies. I received a message this morning that I can download the ebook as a supporter. Unfortunately, I can not find a link from which to download. The instructions state that I should download in the format I prefer, but beyond that the only link I can find is a paid link at BSA which, as a supporter, confuses me as this should be a free download for my level of support.

      Dear Supporters,
A quick note, re: site membership and "logging in", from your BSA Tech/Web Team.

While it is certainly a possibility that the site will eventually include members-only content (eg interesting audio, video, photographic media or special downloadable files offered to reward interested new public for join Dennis' mailing list or participating in new offers), for which a member login portal will obviously be necessary, the current on-site registration serves two primary purposes only at this time:
      1) route those who supported the writing of this book to a form to collect information for gratefully delivering them their rewards, and...
      2) route those new to the book and its impending availability to their preferred purchasing channels.

So, we acknowledge and apologize for any confusion around the terms "registrant" and "member".

Indeed, while by design the site's registration form does collect enough information to be repurposed as a future member login, for now its all about expressing our most sincere gratitude to all project supporters by getting all their goodies out before jolly ole St. Nicholas (or curious ole St. Eschaton, whichever comes first,) roll into town!

      Hope this is helpful,
      ~David

      Dear Ambassador,
I hear you clearly, and this is an issue that I'm trying to resolve. As far as I know, there are no DRM restrictions on either the Nook version or the Kindle version. I know this is true for the Nook, I'm not sure about the Kindle, and I'm not sure exactly how to determine if those limits were set (and how to remove them if they have been) But I've got some tech savvy friends looking into this for me, so I ask for your patience, and that of the impatient hackers, for a day or two. What we want to do is to set up a place on the BSA web site where KS supporters can grab the files in whatever format suits them. Whether that involves a DRM-free Kindle or Nook version, or a PDF, I'm not sure yet, but my tech advisors will know what to do. I understand that information proliferates and that's probably a good thing. I want everyone who supported the project to get what they were promised. I'd prefer that the digital versions not be propagated everywhere, but that may be inevitable. There are ethical issues on both sides of this matter; I remind folks of what I said with the first post, if you feel compelled to spread the file all over the Net, then you should make in-kind contributions to Erowid.org or Heffter.org. We are a community and should remain so. I'm making a good faith effort to address this issue. Please keep an eye on the web site: http://www.brotherhoodofthescreamingabyss.com for further updates. I will do my best to resolve this matter soon.

Dennis, i'm picking up some chatter on the nets. Some of the mushroom hackers/backers are not pleased. They're Kickstarter backers that were promised a reward of a PDF, but now you've changed the reward, presumably substituting a Kindle or Nook edition for the PDF. They do not want Kindle and Nook because they do not want large corporations and Uncle Sam to view the intimate details of their reading habits. Yes, they can track when and how often you read, what you've bookmarked, read your notes, etc, the whole ball of wax. They say they're miffed because anyone with $9.99 can read the book right now, but they can't read anything even though they funded the book via Kickstarter for more than $9.99. If something isn't done to rectify the situation, you may find that at least one of them feels justified in purchasing a $9.99 copy, stripping the DRM within a seconds, and seeding bootlegged copies of the book to underground torrents within a minute. And they'd feel justified, since you have their money and they didn't receive their PDF reward.

      Sincerely,
      /x/

      Hello folks,
Some people have asked why I don't collect address information on this site instead of creating a new site (www.brotherhoodofthescreamingabyss.com) to obtain the mailing addresses of my supporters. There are a couple of reasons:
      1. I didn't know that you could do that, so in part it was a mistake.
      2. Not all of my support came through Kickstarter. Some chose to donate through different channels. I've created a simple database (offline) that consolidates all contact info for supporters. This will make sure when it comes to sending books out in the mail, that all supporters are included.
      3. However I know some people are concerned about their privacy and reluctant to put their mailing addresses into the registration form. It won't be used for any other purpose, but if you're one of those, you can always just send it to me in an email to me through the kickstarter site and I'll enter it into the db manually.
thanks for you patience! Anticipate a major announcement soon.

Just last month, Erowid provided reliable information on psychoactives to 2.3 million unique visitors. Although this non-profit organization is very (IMO) non-aggressive with their pledge drives, this is the first time where it appears as though a fundraising goal might not be reached. Seriously? Nearly two-and-a-half million people used the site last month, and we can't get 777 (or more!) to donate a few bucks? Of course that is ludicrous! At some point soon after the book is complete I intend to create an audiobook version of the book, that will be read in my voice. Backers who choose this level will receive everything promised at the lower levels (except for those that are limited), an iconic poster, a PDF of the chapter, and a copy of the audio book at least six months in advance of its release to the open market. This incentive is limited to the first 10 backers who choose it.

There's a new incentive at the $2500 level that is kind of unique. For one thing, it's an auction, available to only one backer. Please consult update #15 for details about this incentive

After the book is complete, I will travel to your city and present a one-day workshop to the patron and a selected group of friends (I will request an additional contribution to cover 50% of airfare and accommodation expenses). This reward level will also include 2 autographed hard cover copies of the book, or one autographed copy + one autographed DVD collection as you prefer.

This is another unique item that I'm auctioning to the highest bidder, starting at the incentive level of $5000. When Terence & I first wrote the Invisible Landscape, several years before it was published, we gave it another name: Shamanic Investigations. There are only four copies of this book in existence. I own two of them. I will give an autographed copy of one of them to the highest bidder, starting at a minimum bid of $5000. This incentive is available to only one backer.
