Conflict Kitchen is a project by artists Dawn Weleski, John Peña and Jon Rubin.
Dawn Weleski is an interdisciplinary artist who activates and broadcasts the stories of individuals and groups in experimental public performances, where conversation is her process and people are her medium.
Jon Rubin's projects include creating a game show for ideas, starting a restaurant that secretly runs via take-out from its double across the street, and broadcasting an office's telephone conversations through a talking piano.
John Peña grew up in Washington State, where he first began sending daily letters to the ocean.
hello there! well glad you got funded and hoping all is going well - just wondering when you might be sending out the CDs? All the best!
this is such a great project - a very positive way to bring people to understanding - ending conflict through the taste buds. it makes me wish i lived in pittsburgh. i am a vegan but i trust there will be some vegan and vegetarian alternatives
Congratulations! I love this project and I'm glad you'll get to keep it up. Can't wait to visit and get in a good Chomp!
Congratulations on reaching your goal and hopefully surpassing it by the 30th! Once again, a brilliant idea and concept that I predict will grow exponentially. All my best!
excellent idea. I love cooking interesting food and live in a small town in northern VT (St Johnsbury). The dining choices here are quite limited. Any chance you have franchise opportunities?
Years ago I went to a restaurant in New London, CT that served "combat style cuisine" from south/central America. A trip to Greece and Turkey in high school helped me to open my palate (and mind). Food = Love. Best of luck to you!
Good luck with everything!
Cheers!

Great concept! When mouths are busy chewing, the less that hate can be voiced! I would love to see, and would definitely help support, a CK cookbook to take this to the next logical step. And we should make free booklets of culturally significant American recipes to send to the respective countries. Let us make with our own hands the same foods so that we may feed our hunger for peace through understanding.
Awesome ! Conflict Kitchen, don't forget "DeeZee" ... it's a must, i say.
I am in awe, and simply love this whole concept! Hope you'll expand to other cities.
This is fantastic. I hope you guys make it!
An absolutely amazing project. Best of luck!

Our next stage, Bolani Pazi, will be serving all-vegan dishes! The Afghan flatbread treat, bolani, will have various vegetable stuffings.
It is a wonderful idea and I would stop by for some of one of my favorite cuisines, but I am a vegetarian.
A brilliant idea! I'll do my part to spread the word.
Back this project!
Great Idea!
Mashallah, this is a tremendous idea! I live in Sudan and am often considering ways to connect my home (the US) with my life here in Khartoum. Best of luck.
Go forth and conquer, Conflict Kitchen! Soon all of Pittsburgh will be confusing art businesses.
