Seeking funds to help us finish our short film starring Tom Arnold, Sam Page, Carly Craig and Jonathan Morgan Heit.
Firstly, thanks for checking out our project. We came to this site to try and help raise finishing funds for our short film, Starsucker. The film stars Tom Arnold, Sam Page, Carly Craig and Jonathan Morgan Heit.
We shot the film over three days in June 2010 on the Red MX and financed the production ourselves. We came to this site because after deciding to take a chance and spend the cost of a college education -- in the 90's at least -- on a weekend film shoot, the production of this film has grown and as such the cost has followed.
This film has been a passion project for all those involved for years, but the cost of finishing this film in the fashion that it deserves has tapped our traditional resources.
The quick pitch on our story is it's an adult fairy tale about a down on his luck door to door vacuum cleaner salesman whose in the biggest slump of his life when he tries to sell a single mother a vacuum she neither needs nor wants. However, after getting kicked off the sale by his cocksure younger partner, our guy makes the sale of his life when he convinces a ten year old boy that the vacuums he sells are magic.
Currently this film is out to over 20 Oscar qualifying festivals -- Sundance, Slamdance, Aspen, Amsterdamn, Cannes, etc. -- and as we expect to play at all these festivals, we are hoping to have a picture lock and final mix by January 1st.
The funds we are seeking are for completion of post-production sound and color correction, our orchestral score -- which has been written by Mateo Messina, Grammy Award winning composer for Juno, and completion of our special effects.
We are raising $ 4,000 for the above. Any monies raised beyond that will go to the film festival fund that will help us raise awareness for our film and get the project some real publicity...And if you read this far, please help us spread the word about our film and thank you for support.
