About this project
Hello There!
Thanks for stopping by the Kickstarter page for my upcoming iPhone game A Cloudy Adventure!

What Is A Cloudy Adventure?
The short version? It's an iPhone game made with happiness, hugs and joy! Yippie!
The Longer Version
A Cloudy Adventure is a puzzle/physics/platformer/fun-machine/whatever-you-want-to-call-it for the iPhone where none of the characters can jump and your main character can’t even move on his own. Yup he can't move, Cloudy is about as dense as they get. ACA is loaded with charm and joy. We did tons of unscientific studies to design the game specifically to bring a smile to your face.
An Android version may happen, but it might not happen until later this year. I’m not committing to this just yet, but this is on the "want-to-do" list.
Features
- Unique movement gameplay: use other character’s unique abilities to help Cloudy progress through the levels!
- 5 characters all with different abilities both good and bad!
- 10 hidden unlocks that add many different flavors to the game, mmm tasty!
- 30 total levels of ramping difficulty spread out among 3 different game worlds!
- An unlockable hardcore mode.
- Exceptional cartoon visuals and music created by industry professionals that’s infused with love and happiness.
The Story
The diabolical Cheddar Bandits have snuck into the Cloud Kingdom and made off with all of its cheddar reserves (the kingdom's currency). During the Bandits’ raid, they took the young Prince Cloudy hostage as they made off with the cheddar. Once the Bandits were far enough away from the Cloud Kingdom, they released Cloudy in the depths of an unfamiliar land called The Pinelands.
Now Cloudy finds himself alone and afraid, unable to get back home because Cloudy has one very big problem: he hasn't learned how to fly yet.
It is up to Cloudy’s friends and trusted servants to the Cloudy Kingdom to rescue Cloudy from the perils of the Earth’s lower regions. The Band of Blocks must now combine their respective talents to help Cloudy navigate through The Pinelands, Three Hat Mountain and the dangerous Skypass. Only then will Cloudy be able to return to his home.

Where Does Your Money Go?
As you can see, the fundraising goal for this project isn't very high. This is because a significant chuck of the game’s development is already done and I've managed to keep development costs very low.
That being said, your pledges are simply needed to jump some licencing hurdles for things like the game engine and other development tools. Your pledges will also assist in some of the evil, but unfortunately necessary, PR needs.
Quick Note About The Rewards
For everyone who pledges $5 and over will get a copy of the completed game. Unfortunately this is going to be a challenge but be assured that you'll be getting a copy of the full game.
Apple limits the amount of promotional codes that developers can distribute to 50 codes per-version of the game. I'm reserving 10 of those codes for review sites and PR purposes. That only leaves 40 codes for Kickstarter at the beginning.
What that means for you guys is that some people will initially get an ad-hoc version of the game that's not tied to the app-store and will require me to get the UDID of your device. I will then eventually replace your ad-hoc version of the game with an app-store promo code. I will do this until all of the ad-hoc versions are replaced.
TL;DR version: Some people won't get the official version of the game at launch, but instead get a version directly from me until I can get the codes to replace it with an app-store promo.
Where we're at now.
As far as the development goes, ACA is in the hands of a limited pool of beta testers. They're currently testing out the core functionality of the game as well as the first 10 levels.
I'm pretty much wrapped up development on the core functionality (with exception to bugs of course... stupid bugs) and I'm spending a majority of the time on level design and polish.
What this means for a release time frame is simple: I intend to have this game finished up and on the App Store by late May or early June at the latest.
I encourage everyone to follow the game's progress as I'll be updating as often as possible and keeping everyone in the loop. I'll also be posting updates here on Kickstarter as well.
Shout Outs
My good friend Brett Rayer, an electronic artist based out of Denver, was kind enough to write the music for ACA, so a shout out to him is necessary. I also want to take the time and dedicate this project to my wonderful wife Megan who has helped mold many of my ideas and who’s value to this project has been unmeasurable.

Right now SkyKey is made up of just one guy: me, Emmanuel Petti. The goal is to help broaden what seems to be a growing indie game development community here in Philadelphia. I’m starting out with A Cloudy Adventure and intend to expand the team and take on more ambitious projects as time goes on. I’m hoping that ACA will be the gateway to realizing that goal.
