About this project
Bringing Bhutan to the World
If you've watched the teaser up above, you know how special this short documentary is going to be. Although this Kickstarter campaign seeks to raise $7,500, this sum only constitutes the bare minimum. The more we raise above that, the better the final product will be. Every dollar counts and I am very excited to share this project with you.
About the Project
"Shirt Out, Game Over!" is a 15 min. documentary produced and directed by Eric Paternot, on a Peabody Gardner fellowship from Harvard University. Shot with a Canon 5D Mark II over seven months spanning from January to July 2010, the +40 hours of footage are currently in the editing phase, with a rough cut expected in mid-January.
Once completed, the film will be sent to film festivals worldwide. And depending on the size of your pledge, your name will be up there on the film's posters and crawling credits.
Synopsis
This is the story of Tshering Dorji (Mr. T), a larger than life bodybuilder on a mission to bring pride and honor to himself and his small Himalayan country of Bhutan. But to get there, Mr. T must first defeat the likes of Mr. Afghanistan, Mr. Pakistan, and Mr. India in the 7th Annual South Asian bodybuilding Championship in Nepal, where years of training will come down to a few seconds of muscle flexing. Through his journey, Mr. T will test his resolve, his self-perception, and his national identity, reflecting the changes affecting Bhutan in a time of increased globalization.
Funding
The money raised through Kickstarter will allow me to finish the documentary, which is already a $30,000 production. It will pay for:
Editing
Music Rights
Sound Mixing
Color Correcting
Film Festival Submissions
A detailed budget is available upon request at eric@paternot.com
Your donations will ensure that this movie becomes a reality, allowing audiences worldwide to see how life is changing in the distant valleys of Bhutan.
This Kickstarter site works in a rather ingenious way: the money you donate is only received once the 100% goal has been completely reached. This is why I am requesting $7,500 when I really need around +$10,000. Getting to, and hopefully beyond, the $7,500 marker is key to making this project a success.
