This is a story about a girl who can draw. When her classmates discover this, her journey begins.
A story for "class artists" everywhere.
About this project:
Who: Hello! I'm an art teacher and artist. I also love writing stories. I've been writing and illustrating them since I was a child, and I am going to self-publish this one, which is very special to me!
What: I Heard You Can Draw is an illustrated, rhyming children's book that I created. It is about a grade school student who becomes the unofficial "class artist" when her classmates discover that she can draw. This causes something unexpected to happen, making her reconsider how she uses this special talent.
Where: My goal is to print this book in a small size of 6"x9" which is perfect for this little, dear-to-my-heart story. I will print 500 copies and donate them to art classrooms and libraries throughout the Tampa Bay area. If this project reaches more than the goal, even MORE "class artists" will get to read them! :)
When: I hope to get this project funded in the next 60 days and then start the printing process. I am aiming for this to be finished by March of 2014.
Why: I really feel like students, especially little artists, will love this story and have a book that they can relate to. It's not only my dream to publish this book, but I think it's important for aspiring artists to create whatever their hearts desire, which is what this book is about.
How: I can't do this alone! If you are interested in helping me get this book into classrooms and libraries, you will be rewarded with the gifts that I'm giving away for each level of support. These include postcards, signed copies of the first edition, and original artwork.
**The first time I launched this project on Kickstarter I raised 45% of my goal!! But time ran out before I could reach 100%, so I'm re-launching it now.** http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1854121043/a-story-for-class-artists-everywhere
