For the longest time the dream of mixing and mastering the record in Iceland seemed like a far-off promised land that I would never truly reach. And yet, here I am, writing this update to you all, sitting in Greenhouse  Studios with Alex busily mixing at my side. I am exhausted from a week of vocal tracking, jet-lagged, and generally a disheveled mess, but I'm exactly where I want to be doing exactly what I want to be doing, so I have absolutely no complaints there. Alex and I just have to keep our fingers crossed that we can finish mixing this thing in only 6 days, which of course we'll be able to do, but it's going to require long hours and lots of focus. Good thing we have a beautiful view of the sky from our ivory mixing tower!

Speaking of views, I looked out the window on my flight over and was breathless with wonder as I gazed upon the vast expanse of snowy peaks that is Greenland - our flight path took us just over its southern-most tip, and I've never seen anything like it. I've posted a measly attempt at capturing its awesome beauty at the bottom of this update. I don't know that I've ever seen such a massive area of completely uninhabited land. It's refreshing to know that some parts of the world are still mostly wild.

Day One is drawing to a close, and already I anticipate Day Two like a kid awaits Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. When all of this is over, I hope to have made something that gives the listener goosebumps as it simultaneously warms them from the inside out. Is that so much to ask?

No task is too great, no ambition too high, no aim unachievable!
