A quest to see if God's promises really do hold up ... and the journey along the way.
Hi! This is my fourth year producing a short film for the faith-based, 168 Film Project and I wanted to try something new: a documentary! This year’s theme is ‘Promises, Promises’ so I scoured the Bible to discover all the promises that have been made from creation on.
I discovered what I believe to be God's greatest promise in Isaiah 49:5-6. God tells Isaiah, “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth.”
Wow! That’s a pretty huge promise and I wanted to know if God had followed through on it. You see, I realized I need to trust that God really is faithful to all His promises or nothing in the Bible holds up. It's an all or nothing deal. So I set on a journey to discover from both the Old and New Testament just how faithful to His promises God is.
Bearers of the Promise is designed to create a dialogue between Jews and Gentiles in the hope of understanding and getting to know one another better.
In this documentary we will interview a Rabbi and a Minister to gain perspective from both the Old and New Testament. We’re shooting the interviews against a green-screen so we can further illustrate the conversations with these men of God. That’s an exciting challenge!
I shared my vision with talented professionals in the industry who came together to create something of value with their pooled creative resources because they believe in this project. I’ve been blessed the last three years to produce shorts, garnering 11 award nominations and life long friendships. Even with our professional cast and crew giving freely of their creative gifts and talents, there are still costs associated with a production that we need your help with: food, locations, costumes, props, equipment … and most importantly getting the completed documentary out to an audience.
I sincerely hope you will partner with us this year to produce a project of worth. I invite you to come along and be a part of the discovery. I promise to make the journey both thought provoking and fun.
Crowd-sourced fundraising sites like Kickstarter have been an incredible boon to the independent film community. They democratize the process by allowing audiences to support the films they want to see developed and give the filmmakers the freedom to experiment, take risks, and design without anyone else compromising their vision. It's the kind of creative luxury that most major, established studios simply can't afford. At least, not until now.
The diverse methods of delivering media today provide the possibility and the opportunity to have the film reach millions worldwide. However, the challenge is ours to raise funds to complete the film so it can get to the audiences that will and can actively watch it and use it as a tool in their lives to provoke better understanding and create a dialogue.
Moreover, with documentary films like this not only production, but distribution is dependent on donations to fund the outreach to a broad audience. Bearers of the Promise is a documentary that can and will have a broad impact on communities everywhere if the funds can be found to do the work properly.
HOW KICKSTARTER WORKS
Kickstarter is a new way to fund creative ideas and ambitious endeavors. Kickstarter is powered by a unique all-or-nothing funding method where projects must be fully-funded or no money changes hands. In other words, if we don’t raise our goal of $5,000, we lose everything. Once we have reached our goal we will contact you to get your address and then we will start working on getting those awesome incentives (at right, ahem) to you!
HOW TO PLEDGE
Just click the green “Back This Project” button in the upper right-hand corner. You will be asked to input your pledge amount and select a reward. From there, you will go through the Amazon checkout process. You must finish the Amazon checkout process for your pledge to be recorded.
WHAT IF WE DON’T REACH OUR GOAL?
If funding fails, all pledges are canceled and that's that. Your card is not charged, it’s like nothing ever happened. We hope this doesn’t happen! Those 30 days will fly by, donate today!
CAN WE EXCEED OUR GOAL?
Yes, and we need to! The extra funds will go towards film festival fees and getting DVDs made to distribute.
CAN YOU DONATE IN ANOTHER’S NAME?
Of course! We will contact you once funding is complete to gather information so that we can get your incentives to you. Just let us know then the name you would like to donate under.
CAN YOU DONATE OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES?
Yes and Yes! Just click on the Amazon Payment Button and you will see that you can pay with a credit card from any country! But you must finish the Amazon checkout process for your pledge to be recorded. If you have any problems just contact us.

WHERE CAN I WATCH THE TEST SCREENING?
We will post it on a secure site for our donors to view and provide your valuable feedback.
HOW DO I GET ACCESS TO THE TEST SCREENING?
The Test Screening will be released through Kickstarter project updates. Kickstarter updates appear here on the project page and are also mailed out to the email you used when joining Kickstarter. Make sure you use a reliable email address and check your spam settings so you don't miss any updates!
WHEN WILL YOU SHIP THE COOL REWARDS?
This will happen after the Kickstarter campaign ends and all the funds are received.
