WHAT IS LASSO
Lasso is a pair of slippers easily assembled by you. Really warm and incredibly comfortable. They get even better with age by shaping to your feet.
Each Lasso slipper is made from a single piece of felt, with a leather sole. The flat pattern is shaped simply by sewing the provided lace through the corresponding precut holes. They are delivered flat-packed with laces of your choice and only take a few minutes to assemble.
OUR STORY
In 2010, I (Gaspard) went to London to pursue my studies at the Royal College of Art. London’s winter being particularly tough and heating particularly expensive, my feet were frozen by the ice-cold stone floor. I had the idea to cut a spare piece of felt and sew it with my sneaker laces: the very first pair of Lasso slippers was born!
One hundred and sixty-four prototypes later the shape was perfected and the comfort optimized. Back in Paris, I offered a pair to my friend Ruben (the other Frenchie in the video) to try out and see how he liked them. After sewing in the laces and experiencing Lasso for the first time, Ruben called me:
"Mec, chaud patate ! ! On va les faire à Paris ! "
To be translated by:
"Mate, they are so warm,we've got to make them - in Paris!"
Then I had the idea to keep them flat-packed so that anyone could assemble them with the laces of their choice.
So we started to look for a manufacturer and found the Sellerie Parisienne, at Villeneuve-Saint-Georges in the Parisian suburbs, a social enterprise that provides work opportunities for people with special needs. It offered all the skills needed to manufacture, package and ship Lasso to the customer. The die was cast! It took a lot more discussions, coffees, pints, sewing and sweat to establish Lasso: a young, social and responsible brand.

Whether for you or for someone you care about, Lasso slippers always have that personal touch. Use the laces we provide or pick your own, the final result in in your hands.
Made in France from 100% natural products, in a social workshop, Lasso is an ethical and responsible product. We hope they will keep your feet warm for a long time, and that you will have the pleasure of finding them every morning by your bed.

Why £27 for a pair of slippers?
The Lasso are at a discounted price especially for this Kickstarter campaign, they will be slightly more expensive after the campaign.
We
have done everything to lower the price. By giving £27, you are paying
for high quality 100% natural cotton, leather and felt; but you are also
supporting the manufactory that is helping people with special needs.
They are made in France, with love. :-)
How will your money help us?
We have the design, tooling and logistics ready to launch the
production, however we don't have the personal funds to kickstart a sizeable
batch. We want to offer lasso at a fair price and retain the high-quality
standard that we are accustomed to.
If the
funding campaign proves successful we will be able to place large orders for
all the necessary materials: wool-felt, leather and laces. On top of that, we
all have different feet! Each different size requires a unique cutting
die. We have dies for a few sizes already, but we are still missing some numbers to complete the whole range from 30
to 46 ;)
THE REWARDS
We are offering lots of different rewards and will be adding new ones soon.
To show our immense gratitude, we will give you ten Lasso. But that is not it. You will have a visit of the factory with us and we will invite you to a very typical French restaurant in Paris. Ruben will also give you his apartment keys in Paris for you to stay two nights. But, hey, you can bring only one person with you. :-) Travel not included. Voilà!

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
It’s been two years that we are working on this project. And it became obvious that Kickstarter was the right platform to help launch it. It gives us a chance to properly explain the project, and see how the community will react. Hopefully we will get a sufficient amount of orders to sell them to you at the right price.
We are aware of the risks that similar campaigns have faced. We have worked hard to put all the necessary logistics in place to avoid such occurrences.
The fact that we have created a strong relationship with all the parties involved in the project makes us confident in our ability to fulfill our promise. All of our partners know about the campaign and are really excited about it.

All the Lasso and other rewards will be sent from France. We chose to set the shipping cost at a fair price, not at the highest. This means that sending 1 pair of Lasso will cost us more than £6 for some countries (USA for instance) but never less.
We did this because we wanted it to be fair with everyone. This is also to avoid confusion with everyone in the different rewards. -
