"Cant", an interactive dance/theater piece at the Painted Bride Art Center as part of the nEW Festival on January 19th and 21st, 2012
I am gearing up to present Cant in this year's nEW festival, January 19th and 21st at the Painted Bride Art Center in Philadelphia, PA. I am very lucky to have an amazing and talented cast of performers and collaborators but need your help to pay them what they deserve. In addition, your contribution will help pay for rehearsal space, materials for costumes and set pieces. Cant is the first installment in a series of performances inspired by the history of "carny" culture. Cant explores themes of celebrity, cold capitalism, creativity, and isolation, (those timeless American themes), at the center of a dance trilogy that extrapolates on the world and words of PT Barnum and the rare entertainers he promoted.
