Beginnings

How did this start?

It was was while lying in bed one night, tossing and turning angstily, in that surreal space between waking and sleeping, that the idea for Elevationism came to me: the story of John, the young man with the heart of an artist and frustrations of an adolescent in the digital age.  I immediately reached out to a local musician and filmmaker, asking for his help in allowing my mindchild to be born.  A short time later, buoyed by his music and encouraged by his eye for video arts, we set off on this journey together.

The Co-Producers of this project are screenwriter and actor Vasilios Asimakos of Lowell, MA (read his bio in the right-hand column) and musician and filmmaker Paul Ortolano of Chelmsford, MA.  Listen to a track from his band, Serial Thrillers, which appears in the movie.

What is this project about?

Elevationism is a short film that can loosely be categorized as a romantic rock melodrama that centers around the protagonist John, who attempts to work out his artistic, romantic, and intoxication issues during a night out on the town.

When

When is this project taking place?

Pre-production took place in June and July of 2012, Principal Photography is taking place in July and August of 2012, and Post-Production is taking place in August and September of 2012.


Where

Where is this film being made?

The film is being shot entirely in Lowell, Massachusetts, using scenic downtown as its backdrop, as well as various local businesses who have graciously given their permission for use.  It is being edited in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, at iMedia Entertainment.


Why

Why are we making this movie, and why are we asking for money?

This movie is a combination of Vasilios' story and Paul's music.  Featuring characters and themes that are dear to both of us, we ask for your help in this movie reaching its full potential.

The economy has rarely been kind to artists, and we feel never has this been more true than recently.  People's time and space is valuable, and we would like to offer them compensation.  The actors, braving the summer weather and sometimes unfriendly commutes, are wonderful storytellers whose talents we would like to recognize.  The same goes for the crew: patient, enduring, technical whizzes who are completely committed to creating a project to be proud of.  And to those business owners who are literally sacrificing time and money by letting us shoot on their premises, we would like to be able to provide a small thank you. 

There are some set pieces which need to be created from scratch, and require time and talent to make.  We would also like to be able to enter the movie, when completed, into some film festivals, which require an entrance fee.
