This project combines photography, functional lighting, and poetry to bring poetry into the everyday lives of those who enjoy it.
This project was born from love; the love of photography and poetry, the love of light and shadow, the love of making things by hand. All of this love can be found in every single hand made piece.
The goal of this project is to bring poetry into the lives of people it might not reach. In almost every home you will find some sort of wall art, and most definitely a light source, but poetry is not considered as a necessity. I think it is. Poetry allows us to see the beauty in the melting of ice outside your window, the music in the sounds of car tires peeling away at a stop sign, and the feel the dimpled skin of an orange in the depths of a February freeze.
Each piece is a unique creation, with a poem written by poet Rebecca Gregory and a photograph by Tim Kranz. They are all hand-built and assembled, and are accompanied by a print-on-demand book that highlights the creative process behind each piece. The goal is to have ten pieces completed for exhibit sometime between May and September 2012.
