The Revolution will be Mulched

We received an early morning mulch donation yesterday. It's often possible to find a local arborist who's happy to bring their woody debris to a community garden rather than paying to dump it at the City's Fresh Kills Compost Site. This is a fantastic resource for gardens as well as tree services. However - as with everything in the universe- there's a catch. That is, you have to be willing to take a LOT of mulch. Which is what we did. More means more, right? Yeah, a LOT more. Because it was dumped on the sidewalk, there was no leaving it for later. So from 7am-12pm we shoveled. And shoveled. And shoveled. And shoveled. Therefore I can't really use my spine anymore. Nope, no spine. Never again. Good old spineless Dinan, is what they'll say! If you'd like to see a video of them dumping the mountain we moved, check out the tumblr here.

Yah I made a big pile of extra, do you know how much they need? If we don't have enough (we maybe have two rubber maid garbage cans full) I can give them the info of the arborists. They always have a lot.

Holy COW. If you have any extra, I know a rooftop garden that is in desperate need and willing to make pick-ups. :D
