GEARBOX is a media-rich, web-centric experience that uses video, graphics, animation and sound in a comic book format.
My partners and I are creating an online multimedia comic book called GEARBOX. We feel the time is right for a new form that draws on the strengths of online media and the limitless nature of the internet.
The story of GEARBOX follows Xiao - a nomad who travels to parallel realities in her fight to derail the advance of the fanatical, genetically engineered Monocline.
Embarking on an epic journey to sabotage their crusade, Xiao and her people are locked in an evolutionary struggle that will determine the fate of the future, the shape of the present and the meaning of the past.
Visitors to the website will follow narrative threads involving different characters and realms.
Using the fathomless depths of the web, a click on a panel sends you down one path while a click on another has you following a different character into another world.
GEARBOX will constantly evolve as different artists create threads - the series is limited only by each creator’s imagination.
Users of the site will eventually be able to submit their own work for inclusion in the GEARBOX universe.
Money received through Kickstarter will be used to pay the artists, actors, musicians and programmers who work to bring the first episode of GEARBOX to life.
