About this project

The Mission

My company Sonic Legends (www.sonic-legends.com), an online resource that offers high-quality, original, on-demand, loopable music in a variety of genres, all specifically composed for gaming and software, recently launched an exciting new website. We now feature fast, easy, affordable, automated licensing of all the music in our catalog to indie video game and software developers. But what good is a great website when nobody knows about it? Well it just so happens that our entire market will be gathered in one place in March 2012 - the Game Developer's Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. It's the biggest game conference in the world, and game developers from all over gather there - it's the perfect opportunity to tell the indie video game community about Sonic Legends! Problem is, being a tiny company, every cent in the Sonic Legends kitty went to creating the new website.

So I look to you, friends, family, fans and gamers, to help me spread the word about this great resource for video game developers, and to help me put this little business of mine on the map! Your donation, however big or small, will be one step towards making high-quality music available to indie developers - may you never have to listen to a droning, badly-looped midi file while playing a game on your mobile device again! GDC registration, round trip airfare and hotel will come to around $2,000, so I'm trying to raise $1,500 to help with these expenses. I'm trying to raise it early so that I can get the "early bird" rates. If we surpass our goal, anything extra will go towards advertising or promotional opportunities at the conference. As a thank you, I'm offering some great stuff including Sonic Legends swag and of course free soundscapes and music. So please donate today! Thanks and love to all for your support. :)

ALL OR NOTHING

Kickstarter projects are all-or-nothing. This means your pledge will only go through if we meet the funding goal. However, it also means that I need your help even more, because if we don’t reach that goal, I get nothing and Sonic Legends doesn't go to the GDC...so please make a donation and share the link with your friends and family.

THANK YOU!

Thanks for checking out my website and for considering supporting my company. My team of composers have put a lot of hard work and passion into the music we offer, and we really appreciate any support you can give in our quest to spread the word!

Erika is a composer, harpist, video-game fan, mom and go-getter. She founded Sonic Legends in 2009 initially as a music store for tabletop and live-action roleplaying game enthusiasts. Over the course of the next two years, she and her talented team of composers created a catalog of over eighty 8-10 minute long, loopable pieces of music specially designed to suit the feel and dramatic storylines of games of all genres. It seemed a natural next step to offer the Sonic Legends catalog to video game developers who are looking for an affordable alternative to stock music, but who’s budget won't allow for an original composition. She launched the new licensing division in August, 2011 while wrangling her infant son and returning to her dayjob. Erika is a proponent of women-owned small businesses, and enjoys collaborating with other women in the entertainment field.
