'Sundowning' is a coming-of-age story and character study spanning two years in the life of Shannon Fitzpatrick, a 24-year-old girl suffering with dementia.

Frank Rinaldi, the writer/director of 'Sundowning', conceived the idea following the death of his grandmother, Lorraine Schneider, who suffered from dementia. Curious about the subjectivity of her experience, he imagined his own perception of life with dementia. 'Sundowning' arose from this concept.

In ‘Sundowning’, Shannon suffers from a rapid progressive form of dementia. The disease steadily destroys her brain, leaving her mind an unreliable and tattered landscape of confusion and disorientation. It is amidst these obstacles that Shannon seeks clues from her pre-diseased life, and insight into her present condition.

Shannon wants answers, but cannot remember what questions to ask.

'Sundowning' strives to be a timely investigation of modern social concerns, and a timeless exploration of personal identity.

‘Sundowning’ is the first feature film written and directed by Frank Rinaldi, produced by Stephanie Bousley, and starring Susan Chau and Shannon Fitzpatrick. It will be shot in Singapore in May of 2010.

Thank you for your interest and patronage.

Stephanie Bousley met Frank Rinaldi when they both turned up in Singapore one random day in August of 2007 to attend New York University's Tisch School of the Arts ASIA's graduate MFA film program. The program is identical to the one in New York, but incorporates a more international student body and exists in Singapore. For the past 2 years they have been trying to explain to their friends and family that while they do in fact attend NYU, they live on the equator and make films in the jungle.

Stephanie Bousley is the producer of 'Sundowning'. She is most recently from San Francisco, but grew up in the Midwest. She has produced over ten short films at Tisch that have played at festivals all over the world, including the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, South by Southwest Film Festival, Singapore International Film Festival, and a few smaller festivals in London and Wales. Stephanie spent the summer of 2009 working in development for Ted Field's production company, Radar Pictures, and editing the book "Think Outside The Box Office," which addresses new means of d.i.y. and hybrid distribution in today's film market. She has also worked as director Todd Solondz's assistant. Contact at sjbousley@gmail.com.

We (Stephanie and Frank) are no strangers to the realities of filmmaking in today's economy. We have pooled our creative resources and developed a feature idea that can be made using what we have. We don't need $2.5 million to make a good film; we just need a good idea and support from the right people. 'Sundowning' can be produced affordably using the money we raise from Kickstarter, in combination with smaller awards, favors, and freebies from our combined filmmaking communities, and we will ensure that the people who help us will be at the forefront of our minds throughout the life of our film.
