An illustrated fairy tale about seeing what lies within.

Hello!  My name is Shaun Brennan and this is my book, The Woodsman.  It is a bittersweet tale that I wrote a few years ago and am very excited to have it become reality.  It is a story about a Woodsman, his son and the Dryad, a magical creature they meet on their journey.  It is intended for young adults and up.  Some useful parallels are Grimm's Fairy Tales and the works of Lemony Snicket, they're written for young readers but enjoyable for all ages.  Plus the pictures are amazing!


Margaux Meganck is the illustrator and I really think she knocked it out of the park.  It took a long time to find the right illustrator, and so I'm glad I found Margaux.  Her art is amazing and fits the story and descriptions perfectly.  See for yourself below.

At this point, all the writing, editing and illustrating have been completed.  We only have the final layout left which will be completed by early January.  The money will be used for a print run to sell at local bookstores, or national bookstores if I can make that happen.  Depending on the popularity of the Kickstarter and the non-book rewards, funds may be allocated to producing more of those to be sold.  Either way all funds will be used to make The Woodsman available to as many people as possible.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

As mentioned in the video, the writing and artwork are complete. Layout is being completed currently and once the list of Storytellers is finalized will be off to the printers. However, potential risks reside in the print runs for the bookmark, 8.5"x11", and 11"x14" prints. These are the normal risks relating to any print run, and since we are dealing with a local printer will likely be resolved quickly.

Any of the top tier backers will need to communicate with Margaux directly to describe the desired work. As such, there can be delays in the process but we will work to ship the other goods immediately.

Those opting for the Skype reading will simply need to schedule a time with Shaun. For international donators this might take a little more work to align across timezones.
