Founded by Director Patrick Shen, Transcendental Media (TM) aims to "agitate the sleep of mankind” by producing stimulating feature-length films that challenge our worldviews. TM's last documentary "The Philosopher Kings" explores the lives of university janitors. The film world-premiered to sold-out audiences at the 2009 AFI-Discovery Channel Silverdocs Film Festival, opened theatrically in Los Angeles May 2010, and premiered on The Documentary Channel Sept 2010. TM became nationally recognized in 2005 with its critically acclaimed 7-time best documentary winner “Flight From Death: The Quest For Immortality”. Narrated by Golden Globe winner Gabriel Byrne, "Flight From Death" uncovers death anxiety as a possible root cause of many of our behaviors on a psychological, spiritual, and cultural level.
