A Great Start: Twenty Two Percent!
I just wanted to let you know that in less than 4 days we reached the 22% mark! We are hard at work getting the word out about the film and making the connections to those who are passionate about healthy lifestyles for elders, arts education, and creating positive change in communities that can benefit from it the most. Oh - and preserving the legacy of Edy Boone's life and work!
A few weeks ago, we premiered work-in-progress scenes from the film to a sardine packed room of families, community organizers, educators, muralists, elders, youth, and many others at Berkwood Hedge School where Edy has taught for 12 years. And the reception was wildly enthusiastic.
Berkwood Hedge teacher, Hanan Masri, said: "As we watched footage of the film that sunny afternoon, many in the crowd were moved to tears to learn how Edy continues to create "murals with meanings" in Richmond, San Francisco, Berkeley, and Oakland and to inspire us all to be the change we want to see in the world. Looking at footage of Edy as a young girl, listening to her as she coaxes a tentative student into realizing her own talent, and taking in the countless testimonies of people whose lives she's touched made me realize right then and there that this film will undoubtedly be an important part of history. In essence, it will forever preserve the beauty, power and message of one phenomenal woman whom we all know and love."
In the near future, we will be sharing some media coverage about Edy and the film, more stories, other fantastic links about the arts and education, and more about the contemporary elder community. We invite you to comment, and share pictures and stories about Edy, healthy living tips for seniors, public art, and articles that would help our campaign. You can send us a message or images through the Kickstarter site or email us at ANewColor.email@example.com.
Together, we can raise the funds needed and make this documentary a reality.
In the last week we were able to share some important videos, stories, and pictures about Edy Boone’s life and art.
Following is a quick recap and links that we shared on our facebook page:
