Installation Opening in the Bronx this Friday

Update #7 · May 14, 2013 · comment

Please join me this Friday evening for a community engagement installation of Cambodian Diaspora with En Foco, Montefiore's Art for the Heart, and Mekong NYC at the Montefiore Family Health Center in the Fordham Heights district of the Bronx, New York. For nearly two decades, this clinic has provided mental health services to Cambodian refugees in the Bronx via a refugee trauma program that provided culturally sensitive services directly to the community.

We've Reached our Goal!

Update #3 · Sep 17, 2012 · 1 comment

On September 15th, we reached our goal of $7,500 and have since surpassed it! Thank you so much! With your support, I will be able to continue photographing the next stage of this project in Philadelphia in Lowell for the next four months. In the past weeks, I have had the privilege of speaking with Cambodian community organizers to coordinate our efforts and plan workshops during this project. We are all so incredibly excited and I cannot wait to get started in the coming weeks.

I am happy to announce that the handmade, special edition, folded newsprint book produced by the Magnum Foundation and published by Conveyor Arts will be translated into Khmer and given to community members, Cambodian Associations, and community based organizations. Additional funds raised beyond our initial goal will be used to produce more of these booklets for community outreach and expand workshop programs.

If you happen to be in New York, please join me at The Half King at 7:30 for a discussion on this project with acclaimed photographer Brenda Ann Kenneally.

Thank you once again. This project has been made possible by all your support.

Yours,
Pete Pin
