Update #3: Decompression: Part 2
Hello again to everyone! All our wonderful supporters!
This is probably my last email to all of you folks, and I'll keep it short and sweet. We are back in the default world, all over the globe, with Beavers in NYC, San Francisco, Vancouver, London, and Amsterdam, to mention only a few. I think by now most of the dust has settled for all of us, though this Assistant Mayor hasn't shaken the dust out of her tents yet...which should probably be done at some point before next year...
This message is to say thank you again for your support and donations. We have finally sorted ourselves out: if you selected a reward with your donation and responded to the backer request for information, these are currently in the mail or should have already been delivered to you. Your rewards of tattoos, pictures, and the lovely photo of the Beavers and Camp Beaverton are on their way, so look out for an envelope with a return address in NYC. That's from me, Assistant Mayor!
The backer request for information also asked for the name you would like to be listed under as a supporter on our website. This list of you lovely people will be going up shortly; it is all written, just needs to be electrified and put on the Internet. If you did not respond to the email from Kickstarter asking for your information, you will not be on this list and will not receive the rewards you requested, as we don't know how to get them to you! I will be checking the site periodically, so if you do add this information, I will update it, but will not be sending out another large group email.
Thank you so much for your belief in us, in our project, your support of Camp Beaverton, and your support of all lesbian, queer, and gender/trans-variant people! Keep in touch, let us know if you're in any Beaver-dense areas and want to meet up, and look for us on the Playa next year!
Beaver Love and Dust,
Assistant Mayor
Update #2: Decompression: Part 1
Happy Fall and post-Burn Decompression to everyone!
Wow - what a year! From our incredible workshops to the women who came to visit Camp Beaverton once or even every day, this year was success on the Playa! We had a larger camp, expanded infrastructure, more events, and more happy Beavers than ever before! This Assistant Mayor arrived back in NYC only two days ago, so please excuse the Burner glow ramblings and bear with me as we all get re-situated in the default world.
For those wonderful supporters of Camp Beaverton who have never been to Burning Man before, I want to send you this quote I came across nine years ago that first inspired me to want to attend Burning Man. From an article in an issue of ArtForum Magazine, Daniel Pinchback wrote:
"In this context, artworks become experiential tools, not final statements or museum pieces. When the work has been experienced, the object that catalyzed the experience can be liberated through its
destruction. It doesn't matter how much time, energy and skill had been lavished on the object. The point is not to cling to that shell, that structure, but to evolve from it."
Every year, we create Camp Beaverton as our art and community experiment, and come together to experience it at Burning Man. There will be lots and lots of photos going up online in the next few weeks, and I will be sure to keep you all informed if you want to check them out. I will also be contacting everyone who opted for rewards shortly to get your mailing address, so that I can mail out your Beaver tattoos, stickers, photos, or Shirts/Tank tops. If you donated more than $20 please be further patient, as we still need to get the photo edited and printed, and then mailed to you, along with your other prizes.
Stay tuned for further updates, look for us at regional Burning Man decompressions (NYC and SF in October!) and let us know if you are ever in a Beaver-dense area and want to meet up! Beaver Decompression will be happening in March in NYC in 2011, so stay tuned to FB and the Google Group for more information.
Thank you so much for your support and donations, and this Assistant Mayor will continue to be in touch!

Update #1: HUGE THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you to everyone for donating and supporting us in this endeavor! This is really an amazing and positive experience for so many women, and you have made it possible this year! We are so very grateful and touched by your donation. Funding this project took a lot of work, and making the camp happen takes even more work, but your support makes that hard work possible.
Most of us will be arriving at Burning Man in 11 days, but the key organizers (Mayor, me as Assistant Mayor, Infrastructure Committee, and other early arrivals) are headed to Reno in 5 days!!! We will be out on the Playa in the hot sun and dust in 7 days, building this amazing oasis for over 1,000 women.
Please be patient with us as we are away, and when we get back we will be contacting you for details such as address and T-Shirt size if you ordered one, in order to fulfill your pledge rewards. This will be mid-September, as we don't get back from Reno until September 9th! We will send you these things, as well as further updates, pictures, and post-Burn stories and experiences when we return from Burning Man.
Thank you so much again!
