About this project

The trailer above was put together in order to build interest and to find people willing to back the project financially, be they investors or someone merely donating.

This trailer was shot in one day with a crew of two and a cast of mostly volunteers. It was edited in one evening. We know it's not perfect, especially in the realm of audio, but it gives you an idea of what we're going for and what we can achieve with a proper budget. If we made this for nothing, imagine what we could do with a little bit of money!

WHAT MAKES THIS FILM DIFFERENT?

We are setting out to make an independent dramatic comedy that tells the story of two best friends who are male and female and that's as far as their relationship goes. We at Short Pictures Independent feel that the cinema always portrays a male and female relationship in a romantic manner when other types of these relationships exist in the real world. Add onto that the fact that Billi is a homosexual and that adds another dynamic into it.

We want to make a film where one of the main characters is a homosexual, but the film itself isn't about homosexuality. It's a character attribute, it's what makes Billi, Billi. We grow tired of seeing films that, if there's a homosexual character, the entire film is about their sexuality. Why can't they just exist in the story like a straight character would?

Overall, we just want the audience to have a good time and we hope they'll leave the theater with the desire to be friends with Billi and Theodore.

WHAT'S THE HISTORY OF THIS FILM?

We at Short Pictures Independent have been working on this film since October 2009. After having previously written another feature that was impossible to make without a larger budget, Ronald Short set out to write something simpler and that could be made for less. Inspired by the various best friends he has had over the years and some of the situations they have found themselves in, Ronald set out to write a roadtrip movie that had limited locations and only two lead roles with limited side players. That's where Billi and Theodore comes in.

The film almost went into production towards the end of last year, but the funding and various other elements weren't falling into place. Now, with the two leads secured and various people biting at the bit to work on the film, it looks like it might finally happen (with your help of course!).

The current plan is to return home to Indiana and shoot the film with a three week shooting schedule. Pieces of the crew and actors are already located in the Midwestern state and it is almost impossible to replicate the charm of Indiana. Plus, Short Pictures Independent has secured most of the locations from the first attempt at filming. We will return to Austin, TX to edit the film and enter it into various festivals.

We have a dedicated team of people wanting to do the film purely for the love of the project. However, money is still a necessity. We have equipment to rent, people to feed, and, when it's finished, a movie to promote. That's where most of the donations will be going to.

When the film is complete, we hope to play at various film festivals through the next year or two. We are confident that this film is one that many people can relate to, but haven't seen before. That will play greatly into its possible success.

It is to note that the music heard in the video is a rough recording of one segment of the score by John Lathrop of The Stan Laurels who will be doing all the music for the film.
