Hi Marlon. First, thanks for your support!
Using a metal strip on the back isn't something we had considered when designing the Safe & Sound, but it's definitely an interesting idea. Unfortunately it's too late to add it to the current design as far as this project is concerned, but we'll keep it in mind for future revisions. Thanks for the note!
Of course, if that's a feature you would miss once receiving your Safe & Sound case, I'd imagine gluing a piece of metal to the back of our case would give you the same effect. I'd suggest scuffing the surface of the case where you intend to attach the metal to help the glue adhere. We'd even be happy to provide the Pantone/CMYK values for the different colors so you could make it match your case.

The name for the case I mentioned is the Belkin Snap Shield Secure... The following is description of it found in Amazon: Magnetic Strip Holds Smart Cover Open The integrated steel strip holds the Smart Cover flat against the case and out of the way.

Hi John... I really like the safe and sound case but I was wondering if you have considered putting a small metal piece on its back (like the belkin snap case I currently use) so that the apple smart cover can be held flat on the back of the iPad...

Thank you Devin for bringing up the question about the Macally case, it actually is something I would like to address.
We do strongly believe that the Safe & Sound case stands out from, and above the Smartmate 3B. To begin, the Smartmate only fits the new 3rd generation iPad, while the Safe & Sound case fits both the 3rd gen. iPad, and the iPad 2. As if the versatility wasn't enough to push us ahead, we also offer greater variety. The Smartmate is only available in two colors, white and black, while the Safe & Sound will be available in 5 different colors, and is available in a 6th to Kickstarter backers. The next major difference is the construction of the two cases. While we haven't been able to definitively confirm what the Smartmate is made of, we suspect based on general market trends of using cheaper material that it is standard ABS plastic. The Safe & Sound case on the other hand is made of a Polycarbonate/ABS plastic alloy, which offers the best that PC and ABS plastics have to offer, similar to the concept of steel reinforced concrete, combining the high compression strength of one material, with the high flexural strength of the other. The final significant difference is in the design. To begin with, the Smartmate's sound box is thinner than the sound box on the Safe & Sound. A smaller area for sound waves to pass through, could potentially restrict sounds ability to move freely through the cavity if the case itself doesn't perfectly. While the Safe & Sound's sound box leaves a .16" gap, and based on sound tests, works very well to redirect sound without restricting its passage. This does of course mean a larger, more noticeable protrusion, but the effects of this on general handling of the iPad are addressed in our FAQ section. Additionally, we believe our case just looks better, and are of the opinion that if we spend several hundred dollars on an apple product, we want to see the apple logo.
As a final note, for clarification sake, the Smartmate 3B is priced at $19.99 on Macally's website, not $15 as you mentioned Devin.
Thank you for taking the time to look at our page and having the interest to ask questions!

How is this any different than the Macally Smartmate 3B case that is already on the market. It is a hard case with the same audio amplification detail and it retails for $15?
