The Safe & Sound Difference:

Protection

The Safe & Sound case is made of a Polycarbonate/ABS plastic alloy, known for having greater flexural strength and impact resistance than standard ABS plastic, as well as offering high thermal stability, providing superior protection for your iPad. The Safe & Sound case snaps onto your iPad by clipping around the front bevel of each corner, letting you take improved sound quality wherever you go. These clips sit slightly above the screen, meaning you can place your iPad face down on a flat surface without risking damage to the screen. Of course, the Safe & Sound case also allows the use of a smart cover.

Packaging

We've designed simple yet effective retail packaging to help make the Safe & Sound case stand out to consumers. It demonstrates how the case fits onto the iPad and points out the case's key features: its sound box and protective qualities. Where are we at now?

Currently, our injection molding manufacturer has our CAD files and color specs, and the order for printing and die-cutting of the retail packaging is qued up and ready. All we need now are order quantities and the funds to make it happen. As soon as we've received successful funding we're ready to hit the GO button and have the plastic parts manufactured, the packaging printed, and the two assembled and delivered sometime in late summer.

FAQ:

Q: How does a hardshell case fit both the iPad 2 and new 3rd generation iPad?

A: It's true that the new iPad is .6mm thicker than the iPad 2. While many hardshell cases can't pull this off, the Safe & Sound was specifically designed with both models in mind. The case's cavity is shaped for the thickness of the iPad 2, but the shape of the rear bevel and high flexural capabilities of the PC/ABS plastic alloy, allow the case to flex as needed in order to reach around and clip onto the thicker 3rd generation iPad. It will not however fit the orginal iPad, sorry.

Q: Do I HAVE to get a Kickstarter Green case if I chose rewards 5, 6, or 7?

A: No, these rewards simply add Kickstarter Green to the available color options for those cases specified in the reward, which backers will choose using an order form that will be sent out after succussful funding of the project. Cases from reward #5 will still be engraved with a serial number regardless of color.

Q: Doesn't the sound box make holding an iPad difficult/uncomfortable?

A: No. Most users find that when holding the iPad oriented with the sound box on the right side, it is positioned above their hands, out of the way. With the iPad oriented with it on the left, users generally find that the soundbox fits comfortably into the palm and actually makes the iPad easier to hold.
