Traveling from person to person, these notebooks will collect small unique works of art from the people whose hands they pass through.
The Paperback Adventures are made up of the collective journeys of the Traveling Tablets. With a little luck, these blank handcrafted notebooks will travel around the world collecting experiences and art, pieces of the culture and creativity of those whose hands they pass through.
Each notebook has instructions on the inside cover, to provide those who hold it in their hands with the guidelines for the project. Though there are variations between each unique Tablet, the basic instruction page is as follows:
This book is on a paperback adventure, gathering art and ideas from everyone whose hands it passes through. Help this book continue its journey by filling a page or two with art of any kind, (writing, drawing, painting, collage, musical score, photography, etc.) and then pass it on to someone new. When the last page has been filled please send this book to the address on the back cover.
Please ship completed book to: Paperback Adventure, 1063 Caragh St., Roseville, CA 95747

To date there are only a handful of Traveling Tablets in circulation, and much to my dismay, I have yet to receive word from any of them. In order for my project to succeed I need to craft a large number of notebooks and distribute them among a much greater population. My current resources allow me to create only a small number of tablets at a time. I desperately need proper tools and materials, such as paper cutters, glue, paper, a book press, clamps; the list goes on.
My goal is to have two hundred more tablets crafted by the end on May with a total of five hundred tablets crafted and distributed by the end of June. I will be recording my progress on the Paperback Adventure blog, and with this Kickstart Project, I plan on updating every other day. In the hopefully near future, when finished books return, I will scan the pages and post them on the blog, and if enough come back, I plan on publishing a book that would show the pages of multiple traveling tablets. Thank you for supporting my project. Each donation goes towards helping this project succeed, and I hope it will touch the lives of those who participate and those who I get to share this with.
Much love and dry socks, Daniel Lowry Halligan
