Dear STARCK PROJECT Supporters,
We want to update you on the newest happenings for the STARCK PROJECT. The Project was recently invited to be a part of the upcoming 2013 CBGB Music and Film Festival. The Festival will take place on October 8-13 in New York City and will feature more than 500 artists in over 175 venues in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The event will also host more than 125 speakers and 100 films for a total of more than 700 live events. www.cbgb.com.
Originally, we were proudly providing footage of Seymour Stein for a tribute reel for the inaugural ICON AWARD. Once we provided the footage, we were asked if we would be interested in screening our film. We "actually" declined since we are not quite finished. (Soon, very soon.) We wanted to be a part of honoring Seymour Stein, since he has been such an amazing partner in helping us secure the incredible soundtrack for the film and compromised by agreeing to show select scenes and interviews from the film.
This screening will take place on October 10th at 7pm. If you are in NYC, we hope you will join us in the festivities and that you will help in getting the word out in NYC. Screening parts of the film in this manner allows us to still have a World Premiere at an upcoming festival.
Thank you for your support!
Michael and the STARCK PROJECT Team
STARCK PROJECT: A SNEAK PEAK BEHIND THE CURTAINS
Directed by Michael Cain and Miles Hargrove
Event Run Time: 90 min
Event Synopsis: Using never-seen extended clips from their upcoming film STARCK PROJECT as well as never seen interviews from the project, the filmmakers will recount the challenges of directing the film and the creation of the incredible soundtrack.
The Award Winning filmmakers utilize period footage and interviews with over 125 celebrities, musicians and STARCK regulars including Seymour Stein, Owen Wilson, Edwige Belmore, Peter Hook, Chris Frantz, Paul Oakenfold, Tommie Sunshine, Frankie Bones, Book of Love and the late Larry Hagman share their memories to bring the 80s and the infamous STARCK Club back to life.
While New York had CBGB and STUDIO 54. Dallas had the STARCK CLUB.
Money, power, excess and fame; 1980's Dallas had it all. At the epicenter of this dangerously conservative town was the STARCK CLUB, famous for being Philippe Starck's first international creation, for its cutting edge dance music and for it's unbridled tolerance. The club was also infamous for it's VIP Partners and regulars including Stevie Nicks and Grace Jones and its excessive party lifestyle, which included an overindulgence of the soon to be illegal drug MDMA/Ecstasy.
The STARCK CLUB was founded by a group of young Texans who in 1982 flew in an unknown designer Philippe Starck to create what many have come to regard as a monumental cornerstone of international nightclubs and the possible birthplace of Rave Culture.
The STARCK PROJECT is a multi-faceted endeavor including a documentary, narrative feature film, dramatic television series, and a soundtrack which features iconic 80s songs by bands including Pet Shop Boys, Art of Noise, George Kranz, Section 25, Afrika Bambata,Dominatrix, The Ramones, Book of Love, Depeche Mode, Tom Tom Club and Yaz.
Directors Michael Cain, Miles Hargrove and Co-Producer/Music Supervisor Wade Randolph Hampton will be on hand along with guests from the film for a Sneak Peak of exclusive clips from their upcoming documentary THE STARCK PROJECT (working title).
