Still working...

Update #5 · Jan 25, 2013 · comment

First of all, we sincerely apologize for our long absence without any updates for all of you who have supported us from the very beginning. Please do not think that this means we are not grateful to each and every one of you for all that you have done. We know we couldn’t do what we do without you all. As a way of explanation (not excuse), we’d like to catch you up on 2012.

Those who were there know, we had a terrifically successful screening of Little by Little in Tulsa in November of 2011. More than 300 people showed up and the response from the audience was amazing. We were hoping that initial wave of enthusiasm would fuel a groundswell of support from the filmmaking community at large. We worked hard to apply to half a dozen film festivals around the country. But the response was not what we’d hoped. We were not admitted to any.

So we brainstormed other ways for this project to reach a broader audience. We continued to screen the movie in New York, inquired with PBS, and even tried to tap a friend of a friend’s celebrity relative. All to no avail (so far).

But we truly believe in this project. And we think the stories of Pili, Eliza, Zai and Yonga need to be heard by more people.

So we’ve gone back to the drawing board to consider our options. Our current run time has presented something of a challenge. Some broadcast outlets would require us to either slash half the movie (cutting its run time from 48 minutes to 24) or add 10-12 minutes (roughly a quarter).

Thankfully, we have the opportunity to return to Tanzania next month. We’re going to try to shoot some more video, dig deeper into these girls’ stories, and hopefully come away with an even better project.

Unfortunately, this means we do not have the digital uploads or the DVD copies of the movie available for you, yet. As soon as we get a final cut, we will release it on DVD. And we’ll make sure to include the original cut as a bonus feature. In the meantime, we do have the African-kanga quilts and framed pictures for those donors who supported us at those levels and we are working to get those shipped out to you.

So stay tuned. We plan to post more updates here and on our blog at littlebylittlemovie.wordpress.com. And we’ll keep you posted on how this project continues to develop.

Little by little, we’re making it happen. Thanks again for all of your support. We really appreciate all of the compliments and kind words.

Screening Party!!!!

Update #4 · Sep 30, 2011 · comment

Hello LBL Backers -

I know you haven't heard from us in a while (and we sincerely apologize), but that's because we are in crunch time. Wooley is editing like a madman! And we wanted the folks who've believed in this process from the beginning to be the first to know that we're having a preview screening.

SAVE THE DATE: Friday, November 18th at 7:30 pm at Tulsa's Holland Hall Walter Arts Center.

If you are a Tulsa-area backer, we would love to see you there. We are also beginning to gather together your backer rewards. The final DVD probably won't be available for a while, but we will start sending out other rewards.

Please check in with us on our blog, littlebylittlemovie.wordpress.com. The updates will be getting more frequent now that we're in the home stretch. Thanks again for all of your support. We couldn't have done this without you.

Sims & Wooley

WE DID IT!

All thanks go to you, our backers, who are simply AMAZING!

You all prove it... Little by little, a little DOES become a lot.

We still have a few days to take advantage of this platform. So, if you have a heart to donate and haven't, please do so. We only put a portion of our budget on Kickstarter as our goal, because we wanted to make sure we could reach it. And anything that doesn't go to pay for tapes and lights and memory cards will go right back to support JBFC.

We can't express enough how grateful we both are for all of your generous support. You have believed with your dollars, though we know some of you don’t have many to spare. The fact that you are willing to take that chance on us is beyond humbling and inspiring. Seeing our dream reflected in all of your eyes has made us even more determined to get this story told.
